migrating local user profiles to roaming domain profiles
I have a network of 2K and XP clients that I am migrating to a domain using Samba 3 as a
PDC. I have the domain working quite well after quite a bit of tweaking. My problem is
that I want people to logon to the domain, but I also want them to keep their profiles
from their local users. How can I go about this?

Roaming profiles problem - loading failure
I have a samba 2.2.4 PDC which acts as the repository of roaming profiles.
Just recently some of our users have experienced failure to load roaming
profiles. The clients are on a pair of Windows 2000 terminal servers.
The failure does not seem to be confined to one server and only affects some
people.
The error given takes place during the loading profile stage:
Windows can not copy:

Hi, first of all i'm sorry for my english.
I'm triyng to migrate a Samba 3.6 domain to Samba 4 and I've a question
about OU and Winbind:
OU affects to something more besides GPO in AD and Winbind?. Because I've
moved all users to an OU and all less one (strangely) have dissapear from
"getent passwd" and the other SO tools.
If i run "wbinfo -u" all users are

Thanks to both for answers.
I'm using the latest version of wheezy-backports (Version 4.1.17-Debian)
and in this server i don't need to map the AD users to linux tools (i'm
doing tests before change anything in production servers), but i'm planing
to use a File Server and a Print Server in separated machines and I need to
have access to AD users. If I disable winbind entries on

Issues with SAMBA 3.0.0/NT4/Roaming Profiles
Hi.
When I turn on a NT4 box and log on a SAMBA 3.0.0 server, the roaming profile is correctly loaded. When I logout, the profile is also correctly saved back on the server.
The problem begins when the next user (another user) logs in. Don't know who, but SAMBA or NT4 will load the last logged user profile.
I.E.: i turn on a NT4 box, log in as 'daniel', log out, log in as

Roaming profiles problem
Hi,
I've a samba server set up with a ldap backend an I'v configured it to use
roaming profiles (ie: logon path = \\%L\%U\profile), the users homes are
exported by nfs to the server.
My problem is that the profile of the user always end up in C:/Documents and
Settings/$user .
I've already erased the local profile and the profile directory in the users
home dir, but every time that

Thanks for your reply.
I've migrated the domain copying all files in /var/lib/samba and /etc/samba
from original domain to new domain, I've edit the smb file to change the
"passdb backend" line to match the old server (because original is
localhost and give me an error connecting), and then I run this command:
samba-tool domain classicupgrade --dbdir=/home/user/samba

enabling remote desktop
Is there a way to automatically enable Remote Desktop from a NETLOGON script? I want to
enable Remote Desktop on *a lot* of machines, but I don't want to do it manually.

user management tool
There was talk a few weeks ago about the possibility of a Tk-based user management tool
that never happened. I'm planning on trying to do this myself. What features were to be in
the one that never materialized? What features might people want in it? To begin, the
program will only be able to do things that can be done straight through the existing
command line tools (net, smbpasswd,

locking limit errors with Peachtree
In the samba domain I admin, one of the computers runs the Peachtree accounting
software. Today, McAfee antivirus was installed on that box (not my doing) and
now Peachtree keeps giving "Locking table limit reached" errors. Is this an
error from samba, Windows, or Peachtree? Is there a limit to the number of file
locks samba can grant at one time?

adding printers from netlogon script
While this doesn't relate specifically to Samba, I need to do this in a netlogon .bat file
in a Samba domain. In my network, I have a printer hooked to a JetDirect so that it is a
TCP/IP printer. Is there a way I can automatically have this printer mapped/added when the
user is logged on?

A problem sharing printer with win
Hello:
Somebody can solve me this problem?:
1- I have been installed the RedHat 6.0. I have an HP 670C printer
configured like an HP 560C and works well in Linux. The problem appears
when I want to share to print in other computer since Win95. I have
installed Samba 2.0.3, and I see the printer since the computer Win95. I
configure the printer with the driver of the HP 560C that has Win95. The

adding printers from netlogon script
I don't know the final answer BUT if you have something simmilar to a
cyber-cafe LAN (I mean, users use all the computers, and maybe some
users come back to login with the same name) then you have to install a
printer only once in a computer, loging as the administrator and
installing drivers. Then what users will have to do is JUST add the
printer without installing. I know that it's

Strangely slow tranfers speeds with samba 3.0.10 and FC3...
Ok, I've found some references to this issue with samba on the net, but not
related to the version of samba I'm running (which is 3.0.10, updated
version that comes with Fedora Core 3).
My problem is this, I've got a Compaq Proliant 2500 (dual Pentium Pro-200MHz
with 256MB RAM and the standard Netintelligent 10/100 network controller
that come with it)... I've narrowed down that
