Home Drive Mapping problems
I've got Samba 3.0 on a Debian stable system set up to authenticate
using an LDAP server (also on the Debian system), and I'm having
problems getting home drive mapping to work. What I would like, is that
if someone browses to the Samba server (on a win2k PC), they can see all
the home drives of all the users on the server and also have read-only
access to them. The owner of a home

Re: Trusting and Trusted Domain Samba LDAP (mapping Home Directories)Problem
Hi Igor,
I am no samba expert. Reading your email produce 2 thots.
1. If I have not read wrongly, you DID NOT managed to reproduce my scenario cos when you joined Domain A , login as user of DomB , you got the expected result, the Domain B's sambahomepath and drive gets map to the user B. Mine result was this:
I joined Domain A, login as user of Dom B, I did NOT get Domain B's

Re: Trusting and trusted domain (home mapping) problem
Hi Igor,
Thanks so much for troubleshooting all this while and we found out none of our configuration is the problem but the source code. Hope that the samba team will modify to a working code so that I can deploy it.
Actually my dateline to deploy is coming soon and I do not know what to do now..... when do you think the code will be modified and be released?
Thanks so much for your help.

you to login to 2 domains.
4. I can managed to login to both domains.
5. I got all the sambaHomePath and home drive

samba 3.0.0-1 + OpenLDAP
Hi All,
after so much suffering I finally have my rh9 box working with
openldap-2.0.0.27-8 and samba-3.0.0-1. I still have some problems as
follow:
1 - Once I've joined a machine to the Domain I only can logon using root
user; if I try to logon as Administrator the system tells me that
username and/or password are not correct.
2 - If I try to use the parameter 'passdb backend =

Re: Win9x login script drive mapping problem - more info
Many thanks to those who have replied so far - still no luck
unfortunately.
It would appear that I was ni=ot quite specific enough in the original
post re: the OS version I am using - it is Windows 98SE, NOT vanilla 98.
As for the login script I am using, I tried originally with the NT/2K
script I use for all the other machines (logical as they are all NT/2K!):

Samba PDC/LDAP not mapping "logon drive"
Well it took forever (three days actually) to:
1) setup a working ldap server.
Unix users now authenticate against the LDAP server perfectly.
2) Setup samba to use LDAP authentication.
3) Get the WindowsXP machines to become members of the domain.
Everything seems to be working fine except for
1) roaming profiles, and
2) User's home directory (logon drive) doesn't get

upgrade 3.0.1 -> 3.0.2, problem with homes-share
Hi!
We are using Samba 3 in SuSE-linux 8.2 with ldap.
After upgrading from 3.0.1 to 3.0.2 we got following problem:
When users log-in homes-share is not allways reachable, so automatic
homedrive-mapping and roaming profiles doesn't work. This doesn't happen
everytime, but quite often.
And after login users can map their homedrives manually.
Users have following attributes in LDAP

Samba 3 and clients "loosing" home folders
I have a Samba 3.0.2 LDAP-based domain that controls my company's three
offices. Outside of some minor hiccups (which we are working through -
thanks, John Terpstra) I'm only having one "real" difficulty. At random
times, a group of my users are "loosing" connection to their home folders.
A bit about my setup:

process cannot access file.....on home shares, 3.0.24 on Debian.
Hi,
After upgrading samba from 3.0.14(Sarge) to 3.0.24(Etch) I cannot save
file I have edit anymore on home shares, local shares works.
It's possible to create/delete/rename dir/files. But if I try to edit a
file and save it windows complains:
"The process cannot access the file because another process has locked a
portion of the file"
Copy a file gives the same error.

mapping drive in XP hangs
Hello list,
I have been using samba (was last at 2.2.2) sucessfully for nearly two
years on my solaris systems as the file server to my pcs. Recently
(since last friday) my XP boxes cannot map a drive, and auto-mapped home
dirs cause a huge timeout of over 15 minutes!
Nothing has changed in my config file, nothing changed on the system.
Just to try something, today I upgraded to 2.2.7, but still

I have a Samba3+LDAP PDC running. I set it up long time ago following de

PDC netbios name is SMBSERV. In my LDAP tree, users have (among others)
attributes like these:

cn: Usuario prueba para bachillerato
...
sambaProfilePath: \\SMBSERV\profiles\bachillerato01

ADS join / Name vs. IP
Hi
I have a little problem to get Samba 3.0.26a to work with a w2k3 ad. If
I try to connect to it I get an "Failed to join domain: Operations
error". With debug I can see that samba tries to connect to the ldap
server. But instead using the IP address it's using the name.

Sieve script won't compile. Compiler output isn't helpful.
Hello! I hope you will forgive my ignorance but I have a problem I have
been trying to solve for a week and I'm not sure where else to turn.
I'm trying to write a sieve script to sort all of my mail. I was writing
this script to replace the one I am currently using but I can't seem to
get it to compile. I don't know a lot about sieve or really scripting of
any kind and I just
