Printer Queue control
I am setting up samba as a print server on a FreeBSD machine. I would like the users to be able to control the print queue by using the Pause option in Windows NT. It seems that I have a permission problem doing this though. -- Portion of smb.conf -- [global] lpq command = /usr/bin/lpq -P%p lprm command = /usr/bin/lprm -P%p %j queuepause command =

get quota command
I'm running samba 3.0.13 on a debian box, sharing out NFS filesystems from a solaris box. I know, bad idea.. file locking, etc... non-issues at the moment. I've discovered that if I make a share from a local filesystem, the PC's mounting the share see their quota (hard limit, not soft which is another matter) as their capacity and their appropriate free space... this is good.

AutoCAD file names UPPER CASE on samba
Hi folks, we are experiencing a problem when AutoCAD 2000+ drawing files are saved on a Samba (2.0.8) file share. Regardless of what the file is 'saved as', the name is always converted to all capitals. e.g. Drawing1 becomes DRAWING1 Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this problem. Seems strange that it is only AutoCAD files, but I think it is Samba related, not AutoCAD,

Is there a way to handle window (FXDialogBox) "close event" (or any other event/message)?
I cannot figure out how to call a function (or have a block executed) when a FXDialogBox closes (to have some program variables set from the text-fields in the dialog). Also, how do I close the dialog box when user presses Enter in some text-field, I know how to handle Enter key-press but not how to send message to the FXDialogBox window). Vlad PS: I searched and tried but still failing.

opening a WinZip file
Hello I am trying to read a large number of WinZip files from inside R (v 1.7.1, options()$unzip = internal). I have unsuccessfully tried to unpack the files and write to an external directory so that I could read the text files using zip.unpack. Reading some of the archives suggests that this is for .ZIP format files only. I have also unsuccessfully tried to use gzfile to open a connection and

Numerical precision problem
Dear All, I have a numerical problem: R, as other statistical software, can tell the difference between very small numbers and 0, while apparently cannot distinguish a number close to 1 and 1. In the example below, is it possible to instruct R to recognize that q is different from 1? > p=.00000000000000000000000000000001 > p==0 [1] FALSE > q=.99999999999999999999999999999 >

Infrasoft MX very slow loading from Samba share
We are experiencing long delays when loading MX files stored on our samba fileserver. We are running version 2.2.7a of Samba on Solaris 8 servers. Using MX version 2.5 and higher on windows 2000 and XP workstations When the files are stored locally they load in a few seconds, whilst taking more than a minute to run from the Samba server. Our current workaround is to store the files locally,

Win95 & Win98 - NOT WORKING - NT,2000, XP are ok (reposted)
Sorry to have to repost this (didn't get any response on the first post), we really need some of the fixes of the new Samba but cannot go ahead without the support for the older machines. Need to prove that Samba is the great product that I believe it is. Hi folks - I am having printing problems with our older machines. Printing is working fine for our Windows NT, 2000 and XP clients.

Windows changes file ownership & ACL's - any solution?
We have a problem with file security settings changing when a file is edited by someone who is not the owner. When the edited file is saved, ownership is transferred to the person who edited the file. Also, access control settings for the file are reset to a default setting. This is a real problem, since in some cases it means that the original owner of the file no longer has permission to edit

Are these BUGS? anyone experienced either of these?
I have experienced a couple of (minor) problems with Samba Thought I would report these and ask if they are known problems. 1. Problem with "!" in username map file 2. Samba tools e.g. smbstatus, testparm not accounting for "config file" parameter 1. There appears to be a problem with a minor part of username map file interpretation. When I put an exclamation mark

Thanks for the suggestion Andrew, I was hopeful, but removing the writeable made no difference. Still prints from NT, 2000, XP but not from Win95, 98. Any other ideas? -peter. Hi, could someone who is close to the Samba development make a comment about the automatic printer drivers features in Samba 2.2.5 I've been trying to get this working unsuccessfully, and have seen many messages posted from people having trouble with this feature. Not sure if this is an unnusual number of people with problems, but it seems like it ( I could be too close to the problem to see

Using printers with SAMBA
Hello, I have a Linux box with 2 printers attached and 1 scanner. One printer connects with LPT1, the other with USB and the scanner is USB also. I want to share all these within my local network. For that, I installed Samba. When I start the Linux box, the parallel printer starts to print rubbish. I supposed that was a problem with the printer itself, but I switched on alone without the printer

Detect Wine environment out of NSIS?
Hi, I tried to install a custom application under Wine and it seems like the installation procedure has to be slightly different (e.g. under Wine Fedora 9 no PATH environment variable is set). So my question is how can I detect that the NSIS installer is running under wione or under a native Windoze-system? Had

Dovecot Virtual Folders... could these be managed by a/the Client?
Hi all/Timo, I was thinking about Thunderbirds ability to create Virtual folders allowing you to have many different views of your messages... The downside though, is you only see these in Thunderbird. I know that dovecot supports server side virtual folders: http://wiki2.dovecot.org/Plugins/Virtual But I'm wondering about the possibility to manage these from the client side... For
