Routing issue - Revisited
A number of weeks ago I had huge help from many of you configuring routing on a server with multiple Internet facing nics. Thanks for all of your help!!!! I am still having a routing issue that I am hoping someone can help me tweek. This server, besides acting as our gateway to the internet, is also our web and email server. The server has 4 nics. Two are connected to the internet and the

Firewall.routing configuration problems
Hi, I am trying to set up a linux box to act as a router for my college. There are two different types of users; students and conference guests, and they have IPs statically assigned by DHCP, from separate ranges (but they are on the same subnet). The students go out onto an academic connection (via eth0), and conference guests go out on an ADSL line (via eth3). eth1 and eth2 are configured for

Cannot ping subnet hosts
I have done it... added on both routers a new firewall zone covering the tinc interface, policy in accept, out accept, fwd accept, interzone forwarding from/to LAN.... when I do it, I am not even able to ping the routers between them, even though the PING PONG is ok in the tinc debug.... 2018-05-24 20:28 GMT+02:00 Naemr . <naemrr at gmail.com>: > did you add a forwarding allow rule from

Cannot ping subnet hosts
Dear all, I am trying to configure a basic TINC vpn between two sites using OpenWRT routers. The link seems to work, the ping between the two routers is ok, but I can't ping hosts between the subnets behind the routers. This is the configuration: ======== SITE 1 (CLIENT) - polimnia (subnet 192.168.4.0/24, gw 192.168.4.1) tinc.conf ------------- Name = polimnia ConnectTo = calliope

why is my "nmbd" confused about network interfaces?
The only thing related to 'addresses' in my /etc/samba/smb.conf file is a "hosts allow": hosts allow = 192.168.3.0/24 127.1 I'm going to ignore the 'local hosts case, as if I solve the other, the localhost case may get solved by inference. I thought the 'hosts allow' would allow any host on the local 192.168.3.0/24 subnet. The hosts have no problems

Routing between two tunnels
Hi! Me and two friends are trying to get a VPN working, but we cant get routing between two tunnels. This is how it looks, all servers (192.168.*.1) are running IP Masquerade to enable the other computers behind them to access the internet. Both elayne and glenn are connecting to melc, and the tunnel between melc and glenn are running TCPOnly because that glenn doesnt have a public IP (it's

Cross-subnet, multiple workgroups
The samba configuration on the local LAN works great but, I am trying to set up samba to permit browsing of two workgroups on different subnets and getting very close but not quite the results I want. Remote shares can be mapped to a local drive using "net use * \\remotehost\remoteshare" but in windows explorer the remote workgroup is not browsable : there is a "computer could not

Trouble Connecting to Server
Folks, I'm having trouble connecting to my Samba server. The immediate symptom is that I cannot see my Samba server in my Windows Network Neighborhood, and so I cannot connect to it to check my share connections. I'm running SUSE 9.3 on the server, which is running Samba (3.0.22) , a dhcp server (which seems to be running correctly--everyone gets an address when they ask for one),

Help on a Nat To Nat soluction - tinc servers won't ping remote clients
Thank you, Parke and Guus. I have now understood and got it working. Because of my beginner belief, I assumed that the tinc vpn end points needed to be on the same network. I have now discovered that the tinc vpn IP end points addresses can be arbitrary, and different! So I have set the end points to be local to the LAN they connect, and added on each tinc server a dev route to ensure

browsing subnets over vpnd
Hey :) I have recently set up VPN links between 3 subnets. I can ping back and forth between all of the computers just fine, and samba works on all but one subnet. The problem is that I am unable to use the VPN to browse computers on the office network. I can browse them locally from the office, and I can browse other subnets from them (ie. at home, etc), but when I get on another subnet and try

Sendmail Issues
Hey All, I put up a new 4.8 box about a week ago. Mail was working fine for days and now all of a sudden it just keeps crashing or at least part of it is I think. I've been doing the same sendmail setup on all my boxes for ages and I've double-checked it all. I have even reinstalled sendmail and still no success. If I send mail from another box the mail does not arrive AND

Routing issue
Hi, I just set up tinc between two hosts (for now). All seems to work fine, but now I run in to a routing issue: I gave both of my vpn routers an IP in the 172.16.100.0/24 range, and used the Subnet-directive to inform tinc of this. This works fine, I can ping both hosts from both sides of the vpn. Ofcourse both vpn routers give access to other subnets, but they don't know the IP-ranges

Different networks over NAT
Hi, I've been struggling for almost a week now, but I can't get the following setup to work. At home I have class A network: 10.0.0.0/16 with a masquerading gateway 10.0.0.1 running tinc. At work (http://www.eastsite.nl) we have a 192.168.0.0/24 network. The gateway is called 'ed' I've set up tinc on 'gateway' and everything is working fine from
