Hi! Recently I have installed Samba 2.0.5a on SCO OpenServer 5.0.2c with numerous patches. And now have upgraded to 2.0.6. But problem remains. Error ERRaccess in Samba 2.0.7 printing to Netgear print servers
I recently compiled and installed Samba 2.0.7 on SCO OpenServer 5.0.4 using gcc v 2.7.2.1 (Skunkware 98). I was running Samba 1.9.18p7 with no problems. We use a modified smbprint.sysv script to print to Windows shared printers and also Netgear PS104 print servers. Printing to the Windows shared printers is working fine, but printing to the Netgear print servers does not work. I get the

smbclient/samba not working properly
Hi, If this has been answered already please point me to the right place. The thing is I am having problems getting smbclient from samba-2.2.8a package to work properly. I have used Red Hat 9, Suse 8 and Gentoo before migrating to LFS 5.0. In all earlier distributions it worked fine so I think the problem might be LFS specific though my mind refuses to believe this. Synopsis of the problem:

Why \pipe\MKSPipe ?
I've got Source Integrity installed on our network and at least one person is having a problem checking files in. A tcpdump shows that the client is trying to open \pipe\MKSPipe (MKS is the Source Integrity Manufacturer). SAMBA (of course) replies with: SMBError = ERRSRV - ERRaccess (The requester does not have the necessary access rights within the specified context for the requested

Linux and Printing via smbprint
Hi there Looking at the archives I didn't find a solution to the following problem we have here: Printing from our linux-server (wagner) to an intel printserver (PS652D8F) doesn't work. Here's the stuff we know/tried: wagner:~ # smbclient -L //PS652D8F -N added interface ip=10.0.0.10 bcast=10.0.0.255 nmask=255.255.255.0 Got a positive name query response from 10.0.0.40 ( 10.0.0.40

Samba and CUPS printing issues
Hello All, I am facing some problems with the samba 3.0.14a + Cups 1.1.12 and Solaris 10 combination. I am using the printing services on Samba. Whenever I give a smbstatus command I get the following error. The clients are able to connect and access the printers, but still this error occurs, which is really weird. Error: sessionid.tdb not initialised

Whats wrong in this smbclient picture
Running smbclient 2.2.0-alpha2 on Redhat Linux 7.0 I don't have a fully installed samba suite with full setup and really only use smbclient occasionally like an ftp client. I'm able to access a win2k and win98 box that way from my linux workstation. Able to access but not transfer anything to the win98. Although I can transfer files from/to the win2k box. I have no passwords set on

Changed XP user name can't access share
What name does Windows XP Pro use when it accesses a shared folder on a Freebsd/SAMBA file server? Is it the XP's local original account name, a changed account name, the computer name or something else? I'm using an Intel Network Attached Storage appliance that runs FreeBSD with SAMBA. Which Linux best suits Samba3?
In a discussion with one of the main answer people, of whose time I am greatly appreciative, it was suggested that some of my problem (or solution) may be to run Samba on a distro that's better suited for it. Problem is, I don't have the time nor the inclination to download a bunch of distros just to install, test, fdisk, repeat. So I ask. what is a recommended recent distro that works
