How to install HP PSC 2410 into SAMBA
Hi all,
Would like to know how to install HP PSC 2410 printer into SAMBA? I
found the installation CD provided by HP is not the traditional driver
disk.
Thx Many.

Sharing an HP PSC 2110 via Samba
I apologize if this is the wrong list for this. If there is a better list
please let me know.
I have an HP PSC 2110 (multifunction inkjet) attached to a SuSE 10 system.
Printing via cups works very well. I want to share the printer to a WinXP
box. As far as I can it's not possible to install the driver using the
"Have Disk" option so I restored to trying to install the driver in

SPOOLSV and XP PRO
Hi All
I recently began having issues where there would be a runaway SMBD
process listed in TOP, having a Pri of around 25, and using 70 to 95%
CPU indefinitely.
IPTRAF reports around 600kbps constantly in and out from the subject
workstation, with nothing going on - on the workstation. This traffic
is parallel to the runaway SMBD process ... the traffic dies when the
SMBD process is

Remote Downlevel Document Hangs in XP Pro Print Queue
I used SAMBA, CUPS, hplip, and linuxprinting.org documentation to made all
configuration changes necessary to successfully print from FC3 print server
using samba-3.0.10-1.fc3 for a HP PSC 1350 SAMBA windoww share on a XPPro SP2
PC.
I created the FC3 print queue using the CUPS web interface->Device=Windows

linear lists, creation, insertion, deletion, traversal *someone?*
Hi,
In a second try I will ask this list to give me some useful pointers.
Linear lists, as described e.g. by N.Wirth in "Algorithms and Data
Structures", seem not to be implemented in S/R, although in lisp we have
cons, car, cdr.
Nevertheless I want to implement an algorithm using such linear lists,
porting a trusted program to R (S). I need:

Prelim results: hpnssh v ssh in local area networks
The results, for anyone interested, can be found here
http://www.psc.edu/networking/projects/hpn-ssh/results.html
Long story short, there doesn't seem to be any notable difference
between the two anymore. I still have a few more test combinations to
run (<.5ms rtts and against cygwin) so the conclusions might change but,
at this point, I'm no longer seeing any sort of performance

cups printing
I have searched around the samba documentation, including the smb.conf man
page, and have found nothing regarding the cups printing system except
change printcap to cups. Now, I have done that, but printing still does
not work. I need some types of details and a sample smb.conf and/or any
other relevant documentation.
Thanks much,

swap control
Is it possible to use sync to vblank / swap control with mesa/gallium
(and nouveau) ?
I googled it but did not find any clear answers about how it is
supposed to be enabled.
I also tried to read the code, and I am getting lost. So I didn't find
any answers to any of these questions :
1) how are we supposed to enable it ? is there an env var , or
~/.drirc ? is drirc/driconf still valid with

But non of that solutions helped me.

Difficulty with Samba 2.2.8 and native CUPS PS drivers
I've recently attempted to convert from the Adobe PostScript drivers for my
Canon BJC=2110 printer over to the native CUPS Windows PS drivers and can't
quite get things to work correctly. After deleting the printer on my
WinXP SP1 clients, verifying under "Server Properties" that the Adobe driver
was removed, then reconnecting to my Samba printer, I connect fine but receive

Slow windows -> cups print - CONCLUSION
Hi list,
I've just figured it out.
When we're installing the drivers from adobe there's a part where we must
"Select the Printer Model". By default it uses the "Generic Postscript Printer"
(it has an associated PPD for that). We must get a PPD for our printer
(installed on the linux server) from the www.linuxprinting.org, click the
"Browse" button and

What am I missing here?!
OK, I've tried changing my printcap name from printcap to cups. Printing
works fine locally using CUPS on the Samba box. What am I missing here? Why
can't I print to the Samba box via the Windows and linux clients? Shared
directories work fine. I am really frustrated here and have exhausted Google
and all other resources I have. Here's my smb.conf for what it's worth.

Samba+CUPS+Driver autodownload
Hi,
I'm trying to get Samba to offer the Adobe driver automatically for the
two printers I have set up with CUPS.
I have all of the necessary files plucked out of the Adobe Postscript
Windows driver package, but I'm hitting the problem when I come to run
"cupsaddsmb -v ..." that the "rpcclient adddrivers" command always fails
with NT_STATUS_UNSUCCESSFUL. The drivers

I just wrote a program in R by editing it in Microsoft Word and then pasting

And below is what the console complains.... Why doesn't it recognise 'r'??
I have to mention that at least when I typed this first several lines into
the console, the first error didn't

Hi,
i have two servers, connected to to the lan by 10Gb with 10Gb and DAS
hardware raid.
Each system con read and write locally or to the 10G iscsi by more than
200 MB/s.
Now I have to transfer backups form A to B and doing this with rsync
always stuck at +- 48-50MB/s no matter which options, compressions,
encryption etc I use. Even the plain default rsync is at that 50 Mb limit.

cupsaddsmb -v, Warning: PPD file not found?!
Hello all,
I am running a Debian testing/unstable system with samba 2.2.3a-6 and
cupsys 1.1.15-4 as a member server in a samba domain. I have used CUPS to
add a networked HP8100N printer and it works fine locally, but I'm having
difficulty adding it to samba for Win98 domain clients to use.
I ran cupsaddsmb to add the printer and drivers to samba, but it cannot
find the PPD file... where is

New HPN Patch Released
The HPN12 patch available from
http://www.psc.edu/networking/projects/hpn-ssh addresses performance
issues with bulk data transfer over high bandwidth delay paths. By
adjusting internal flow control buffers to better fit the outstanding
data capacity of the path significant improvements in bulk data
throughput performance are achieved.
In other words, transfers over the internet are a lot

Boost: updates but no announcement; nothing on rhel errata neither?
Hello,
I've been offered updates for boost* on C6. There has been no announcement at the moment.
But neither do I find anything on rhn.redhat.com/errata/
Anyone knows how I should treat this update?
Thanks
