adding printer driver to a printer
Hi, I'm using debian woody with samba (2.2.3a-12.3). After installing 2.2.8a everything that worked, still works. What didn't work, still doesn't work. Sharing files works properly. I'd like to share a printer via the samba server. When I go to the printers&faxes share in explorer, no printers are shown. Hereunder is my smb.conf, /etc/lprng/printcap, and the logfile

Access is denied
Hi, I have some users who sometimes can and cannot connect from PC to UNIX drive through SAMBA. The message is "Access is denied" and they tried to connect to different server and it is working. This makes the users think that the server is down. In fact the server is not down. Any one experiences this problem before? Please advise. regards, Bridget

Windows XP Home Edition
I am using Samba 2.2.3a-12.3 on a Debian server. All the clients but one are XP home edition. I have a share on the server which all workstations are able to see, view, write, edit, etc. After 15 minutes of inactivity the share obtains a red X over the share icon. I am able to reactivate the share by clicking on the red x with no problems. I understand that Microsoft, in their wisdom, has a

I have a samba server configured at a clients office and sometimes when he is drilling down into directories in his "File Explorer" it stalls. I tail'ed the log files and I ran tcpdump, but I can't see anything that stands out. What should I look at? How to authenticate to CVS via Winbind?
Hi! As a Samba newbie I have a big problem getting my Win2000 Server PDC users to authenticate to CVS/SSH on my samba 2.2.3a-12.3 debian woody machine. The linux server is member of the Windows Domain, and users can login via the network neighbourhood and their domain passwords (style: DOMAIN\user). wbinfo -u gives me all the known Domain users, so I think winbind is working correctly... I am running Samba 2.2.3a-12.3 as a PDC on Debian 3 (kernel 2.2). All seems to be working with 2 exceptions. The worst problem is when I logout of my Windows 2000 desktop. While the Win2k machine says it is "Saving Settings..." it will come up with an error box giving me a fatal exception in application unknown. The message box title says something like: "SAS Window:

Printing 2 digits after decimal point
Hi there, i'm not getting along with the following problem. I'd like to print a real number, e.g. x <- 12.3 with exactly two digits after the decimal point, e.g. 12.30 I've tried the whole format(), formatC() and prettyNum() functions but did not have any success with it. This should work with all real numbers, in case even with 0.0 (-> 0.00). For cracks this thing is pretty

We have found that a number of users (especially notebook user with Win95) try to change their IP-address to get more permissions when they login to the network. Since we have a database with all of the systems registered and we already automatically build our configuration files when something changing in this database (MySql), we tried to block the unregistered IP number by expanding the hosts

Hello there, We're using a reasonably large network of linux boxes, about 6 of them offering printing services through CUPS. This has worked remarkably stably for the last months, but we've got one lasting problem with Samba that someone may have a hint to offer. We use an smbd on one of the linux boxes that offers the shared CUPS printers to the windows clients on the network. Now
