Winbind + ext3 ACLs
Hi folks,
For the longest time, I've had a problem changing or modifying ACLs from
my window clients. Whenever I tried, I'd get this in the logs:
[2004/07/29 12:36:26, 0] smbd/posix_acls.c:create_canon_ace_lists(823)
create_canon_ace_lists: unable to map SID

I could change the ACLs using getfacl/setfacl, btw.

Hi,
I haven't been able to find any doco that explicity states whether it is
supported, so I am hoping someone out there can answer the following
questions:
Is it possible for a folder/file in a samba share to have win2k security
permissions assigned to it? For example, I want my samba server to
participate in an existing Win2k domain. I want users to be able to set
their own

W2K Sp2 in NT4 domain and roaming profiles on samba 2.2.3a
Hello samba-insiders,
we have a WinNT 4.0 SP5 PDC and our samba 2.2.3a is member of the domain.
The roaming profiles of our clients stored on the samba 2.2.3a server.
All seams to be perfect but only clients with W2K SP2 cannot use there
roaming profiles.
---> "Access Denyed" is the W2K errro message.
But if the same user loggs on on a client machine with W2K SP1 all things
are ok.

Is it possible to store XP Profiles on Samba 3.0.2 ?
Hi all,
Can you use Samba to store an XP Pro profile?
I'm running Samba 3.0.2a (compiled from source) on Solaris 9.
Compiled it against OpenLDAP 2.1.30 and MIT Kerberos 1.3.3 (both
compiled from source from fresh downloads today).
Am now trying to get Windows XP Pro to store profiles on to this box.
The smbd and nmbd seem to run fine.
Every time XP Pro goes to create a user's

create_canon_ace_lists: unable to map SID
Hi all,
I'm trying to get a Samba server (which is a member of a Samba
controlled domain) to store WinXP Pro user's profiles. The XP user
is authenticating against a 2003 Active Directory server, which then tells
it to store it's profile on my Samba server.
The 'profiles' share exists and is writeable and under some circumstances
we can get profiles to be stored there,

"password server" not working: 2.2.4
I've been having some trouble getting ACLs to work under my Samba 2.2.4
client (talking to my 2.2.4 "PDC"). Finally, I checked the log and
realized that it wasn't able to map SIDs to UID/GIDs. Further checking,
and I realized that the client never made the request to the server.
Here's some output from smbpasswd:

others domains. I use robocopy.exe to migrate files and folders. When I

Can samba map between existing Windows (SID) users and existing unix (UID) users
Hi again,
This is a follow up to a previous e-mail, but no luck so I have done
some more digging.
I don't understand why it is so difficult to map between a existing user
on a Windows Server (SID)
and an existing user on a Unix/Solaris (UID) user, since all information
is available?

Re: FW: SAMBA+ACL+XFS
Paul,
Your samba does have ACLs support built-in. Please check that your system has
the ACLs support libraries. Since you are using kernel 2.4.x you need to have
the bestbits acls support libraries installed on your machine. Check the
documentation for XFS to see how to mount the XFS file system so it has ACLs
support.
You should manually be able to set POSIX ACLs using the setfacls utility.
