Failed to verify incoming ticket!
Hello,
a few people asked about this problem here, but up to now I have not seen a solution.
System:
fresh installed Debian Woody with backported packages from backports.org, nothing else,
only samba3 running. System ist intended as replacement for our old windows-fileserver.
Situation:
after installation and configuration all worked well, accessing shares works without
password-checking.

debian packages: krb5
Does anyone know where I can find the needed Debian packages for
installing Kerberos 1.3.1?
>From what I've been told I need these for ADS support in Samba. There
are no backports for Kerberos 1.3 or higher. If anyone has any
suggestions besides building from source, I'd like to hear them.
Thanks,

security = ADS with libkrb53.
I've been trying to get samba to integrate with a Win2000 ADS, with
very limited success.. but from recent postings I think I have found
my problem. I am only using libkrb 1.2.4. I know I need 1.3.3, but
don't particularly want to compile from source. I'm running a Debian
Stable machine, so was wondering if anyone knows of where I can get a
backport to woody of the newest Kerberos

krb5_cc_get_principal failed (No such file or directory)
Hello,
I am using the brand new SuSE 9.0 with Samba 3.0.0.
I installed:
Heimdal kerberos development libraries 0.6-67,
Openldap development libraries 2.2.22-65,
which are shipped with the distribution.
If I running "kinit administrator@NWTRADERS.COM" I am getting a ticket.
But if I try to run "net ads join -U administrator@NWTRADERS.COM" I am
getting following messages:

Samba vs DHCP
I was using a Samba server under a SUNOS 5.5.1 operative system. This
SUN machine was the server of a number of Lynux (Mandrake) and Windows
(95,98, XP) computers in a TCP/IP network with fixed IP numbers. We were
oblied to change to DHCP recently. As our network has a huge number of
computers I am running the smbd and nmbd daemos of the Samba with an
identification in such a way that only those

Here's an update for those of you struggling to get Samba
working in an AD domain environment.
~ Summary: in securirty = ads, clients can browse to the
~ Samba member server via IP but not by name (either netbios
~ or DNS). Kinit and wbinfo -t all work as expected.
The apparent reason for this is that the 2k client uses

xorriso or genisoimage syntax assistance
I got this figured out much faster than I thought I would. Thanks to all of
your help, Peter, Mattias, Thomas and Helmut. And Thomas, that 8 partition
live OS sounds right up my alley, and I will definitely check it out.
The second partition is working well with `parted' and `fdisk', so I am
quite pleased. Below is, again, "what I came up with". I tried to integrate

Cannot install printers via CUPS in Samba3.0.2a on debian sarge
Hello,
please help me:
After searching for nearly 2 weeks for a solution, I have to ask for
assistance:
System:
debian sarge - update from an working installaton on woody (without printing)
Now the samba server joins ADS, authenticates users, but should also provide
printers.
I have installed cups, configured my smb.conf:

Updating System Policy Templates
Hi all,
I am going to be in the process of updating my custom system policy
templates (probably within a month or two) and I am asking for what
policies anyone is in need of to help them deploy samba as a domain
controller.
Currently I basically have a single template.adm file, a few people have
asked me to separate them into a few different files that would serve an
overall single purpose - I

NT_STATUS_LOGON_FAILURE on auth to a win NT4-server
Hello,
after long searching in the docs, the web and my Samba-books
I have to ask here.
I followed exact the steps described in the book: "samba-3 by example" up to chapter 5.
What kind of trouble indicates this errormessage after trying this:
server:# smbclient //domain/SHARE -U user -d 2
Password:
session setup failed: NT_STATUS_LOGON_FAILURE

Samba 3.0.24 + LDAP - User Lockout not working
Hi,
im trying to setup a password policy with samba and openldap. while
lockout works perfect on openldap it looks like it does not work with my
samba.
Ive set "sambaLockoutThreshold" to 3 and "sambaLockoutDuration" to -1
(lockout forever) within the Domain-Object in LDAP. So i expect whenever
a windows user does 3 false logon attemps his samba account will be
LOCKED
