Samba printing, I just don't get it
I'm sorry for asking a really newbie question here. But I'm just missing something I guess. I've read the HOWTO for 3.0.0 and either I missed it or I just didn't understand it. I have 3.0.1Pre1 on RH 9 "Machine A" working as a domain controller with a win2000 SP4 box. I made a USB local CUPS printer on RH 9 "Machine B". I made a remote CUPS printer on

Cups printing, domain group error, getting closer...
After realizing my CUPS printername in /etc/cups/cupsd.conf must be the same as my samba printer sharename (I don't think it says that anywhere in any HOWTO, correct me if I'm wrong though) I am now getting to the printer resource but... Using Samba 3.0.1 and attempting to connect to a samba cups printer with Win2000 I am getting the following samba error: Returning domain sid for

setting printing preference in 3.0.1 for 'HP LJ 4/4M plus'
Hi Jerry et al, I'm using the 3.0.1 release on Solaris 9 in security mode ADS. It works fine in general. But there are some problems with printer drivers. For ex the HP LJ 4/4M plus driver can not be set to 'A4' from 'letter' in the printing preferences. I use 'rundll32 printui.dll,PrintUIEntry /p /t3 /n\\...' to get to the dialogue, so I'm pretty sure I try to

Error "Could not fetch trust account password" in Samba 3 Beta..what do I need to do?
Specifics samba-3.0.0beta1-1.i386.rpm on RedHat 9 and smbpasswd authentication, the machine is the PDC and security is set for user. The machine account was setup on the fly and it appears in passwd, shadow, and smbpasswd files as it should. However it seemed to take a very long time to join the domain, about 1-1/2 minutes. I can browse the Samba PDC machine and access the shares, etc. After

strange DOS-Error 58
Hi, based on Bart Lagerweij's ( www.nu2.nu ) bootdisk, I've created a small DOS system that users can start by booting from network ( PXE ). The system is configured to map a network drive from a Suse 9.0 Pro / Samba server with various tools on it. The connection is anonymous. Until recently everything worked fine but suddenly there are strange errors: When I try to launch an EXE from

Samba Process stops while trying to print to a CUPS
I have a Linux RHEL 7.8 server that has been having issues with CUPS printing with Samba. A few notes: - Samba Version 4.10 - CUPS Version 1.6.3 - Windows Connecting Client - Windows Server 2016 - I do see the print job making it to the configured path in the smb.conf file - I am able to manually print to the CUPs printer - Therefore I know Samba is working, and CUPs are

very slow link between Win2k SP4 and Linux samba server (2.2.8a)
I've been experiencing an incredibly slow samba access from a Win2k SP4 client to a Linux samba server (Mandrake 9.0, samba 2.2.8a). It seems like the file transfer rate is not so slow, but the initial opening of files on the Linux samba server takes very long (10 ~ 20 seconds). The directory listing is also very slow. In the past, it took me about 2.5 hours to compile Mozilla-Windows

Cannot Install SLES9-SP4 Para DomU on SLES10-SP1 Dom0
We are trying to install a 32-bit SLES9-SP4 paravirtual machine on a 64-bit SLES10-SP1 Dom0 host from scratch. We have two problems: 1. The YaST2 VM creation tool fails to create a vm if a network card is selected. 2. The initial vm boots from the SLES9-SP4 iso file, but then complains it can''t find the installation source. Samba 3 and Windows 2000 (SP4) Terminal Server
Hello, at this time we're using s. 2.2.8a (running on SuSE-Linux StandardServer 8 - Kernel 2.4.21) as fileserver for our terminal server environment. We ran into the 128 connections per client limitation and had to modify the MAX_CONNECTIONS-parameter in smbd/conn.c. Now we're planning the migration from s. 2.2.8a to s. 3.0.1. Is the modification in smbd/conn.c still necessary, when using

[SOLVED] Win NT 4.0 SP4 access to Samba 1.9.16p9
Hello folks - back on April 2nd I asked why my NT 4.0 with SP4 computer wouldn't connect to my old copy of Samba (1.9.16p9), while my neighbour's NT 4.0 with SP3 computer did just fine. This was in the case of a read-write share that only myself and my neighbour had access to under our user names. A read-only share worked just fine on both our computers. Thanks to Herb Lewis & Jan
