Advanced printers shares
Hi Here the problem. I am using samba 2.0.10 on sparc Solaris 8 platform in a Nis env. Currently we have about 100 or so printers listed in printers.conf nis map, these printers cover our 5 sites which all use the same nis env. Each site has one Domain master, and a local master on any separate subnets, as not all is in the same domain. When ours users log into a samba server they are

Samba printing to unsupported linux printers
I am in somewhat of a dilemma. I purchased a Xerox DocuPrint P8 a while back, and recently have tried to set it up on my linux box as a networked printer. The print drivers are only available in Win*, therefore the printer will never work with linux. (It's a "winprinter") When I tried to set it up using lpr, the page would print about half way, then stop. My question is, is it

Printing from XP Pro in AD domain to stand alone SAMBA
Hi; I can't seem to find anything in the docs that quite matches this, but if there is a doc, just point me to it. The situation is this. I have samba running on my home net. It's running as a standalone server in user mode so that users on computers at home can have home directories and and access to the printer. When I bring my laptop home from work, I occasionarlly need to print

Printer Driver Delivery - Printing Preferences Error
Hello everyone, I've got a Xerox Work Centre 5735 that I'm printing to via Samba. When I install the drivers on a client (using the right-click-Connect method) from the samba shared printer then the install goes smoothly but I can't load the Printing Preferences dialogue for that printer, I get an "Operation could not be completed" error. This same error does not occur

uploading printer drivers
Hi, I'm having a little problem with my samba print server. I'm running samba 2.2.1a on a redhat 7.1 distro. I want to use the print$ share, so I can upload print drivers from a windows 2000 machine. I configured the print$ part in the smb.conf, made the directory and the subdir W32X86. They all have the appropriate permissions. When I try to upload drivers for an existing printer,

Printing problem with Samba, XP, and Xerox Printer
Hello everyone, I am having a problem getting Windows XP clients to print to a Xerox DataCenter 440 using Samba as the print server running on Red Hat Linux 7.2. I have installed the driver once and it worked fine. I then tried to add a second XP client, and while it appears to install and work, nothing comes out of the printer. It even seems to disappear at the print server. Any ideas how I

strange issue with xerox printer: unable to configure driver
Hello list. I've a strange issue with a samba 3.4.3 print server. Everything is fine with most printers, meaning drivers are assigned on server side and automatically distributed to the clients as expected. However, I fail to configure a Xerox document center 7435 the same way. When I attempt to assign a driver to the printer, from a windows client with admin privileges, I get an

Recently the IP address of the Samba server was changed and now windows machines can no longer print the the Linux printer. Does any body know what has happened and where I can look. printer preferences not settable using samba print driver
We're putting together a Linux-cups-samba print server for Windows clients. A dozen print drivers have been loaded and used successfully on the Windows clients from the samba server. But, one particular printer is causing trouble: a Xerox DC 2240. When a windows client tries to open the printer preferences, after connecting to the printer on the samba print server, a popup says

Printer prints, but reports opening
We have a samba 2.2.3a-12.3 for Debian running, and something odd in printing. We use CUPs as linux print server. When we print from a w2k station, prints come out the printer, but the printer window reports a cycle of messages: - initializing printer - opening printer - failed to open, retrying what can be the cause? parts of the smb.conf: ============== [global] printcap

Printers not working with Point'N'Print
I have been wrestling with this for quite some time. I have Samba 3.0.9-1.3E.3 installed on a RH ES 3 server running the 2.4.21-32.ELsmp kernel. I have a Xerox Workcentre 32C, Workcentre 65, HP Laser Jet 5si, HP LJ 8000, LJ 4250dtn. All of the printers work fine from the local machine. In other words, I can print to any of the printers from the RH server. However, when using Samba to share

Got cupsaddsmb working but the client PC download of the printer drivers fails for 3 out 4 PCs tested so far!
I have built a new CUPS print server on Ubuntu 8.04 server for our office (used apt-get to download the CUPS v 1.3.7 and Samba v3.0.28a packages) as a replacement for our existing Suse CUPS print server and I want to use the cupsaddsmb tool to set up printer drivers for download by PCs rather than using the Add Printer Wizard method which we have used on our older CUPS print server. Unsupported Printers - just "sticks" in the lpd queue ;(
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Hello: I've configured a Linux box with Samba to act as a secondary domain controller for an existing NT server. I've gotten everything working very nicely, all my file shares set up, etc. I've got 6 printers that I need to set up as print shares. The ones that speak Postscript or PCL were very easy to set up, and work admirably.

windows 7 64 bit xerox print drivers
Dear Greg, At last I saw your post : I confirm it still does not work and I am glad I am not the only one to say it! I recently reported a bug there : https://bugzilla.samba.org/show_bug.cgi?id=8438 No answer at all so far, as if printing support for 7 was not that important for samba... Coming from the linux world I am not really familiar with the solution you gave : would it be possible for

squid proxy, https and apple store
Hi, I'm a bit confused regarding the connection of a Mac OS X system to the app store by the app store client. I do get ==> /var/log/squid/cache.log <== 2014/06/11 13:23:10| The request CONNECT p12-buy.itunes.apple.com:443 is DENIED, because it

windows 7 64 bit xerox print drivers
Samba 3.4.7 Ubuntu 10.04 Has anyone out there got Xerox 64 bit drivers working in a point and print samba set up? And if so, which Xerox drivers? And which method of driver installation? I'm at a complete loss. We currently have an environment with 500 + desktops and a couple dozen Xerox workgroup docucolor MFPs that are running fine now with XP clients and a Samba print server. We're
