samba_dnsupdate --verbose --all-names fails with kinit RuntimeError
Hi everyone,
unfortunately, I managed to break my Samba AD DC configuration :-( and
would like to ask the experts on this list.
When restarting my Samba AC DC I noticed, that it didn't come up
properly. samba outputs the following lines to /var/log/syslog

Schema extension
Hello,
we have a single DC after a clssicupgrade and we need to extend the
schema. So we created a attrib.ldif with all our attributes and a
object.ldif to add the attributes to the "CN=User" Object. We tested the
two ldif-files on a DC with only a few users and groups and it works
fine. Then we did the classicupgrade (same NC as the test-system) we
have more then 30.000 users

are you trying to say that I should install "Identity Management for
Unix" on a Windows Server 2012? If yes, I am afraid we have a
misunderstanding here: I don't use any Windows Server in my set-up.
I use a

AD Auth Trusted Domain issues
I have been killing myself on this issue over the last 2 weeks. I have
setup pam AD authentication using winbind on our companies email
servers. That part is currently working. I have been trying to add an
existing "Trusted" child domain and allow authentication from that
domain as well. I am part of the way there, but not quite to the
functional point as of yet. Our primary domain

Multiple IP(or Host) listen in dovecot.conf.
Hi.
Does someone make update for `Multiple IP(or Host) listen in
dovecot.conf'?
I made trivial patch so.
But this patch doesn't solve `Support listening in multiple sockets'
in TODO. It appends only the capability as multiple listen in
dovecot.conf. So, `login_processes_count' becomes ambiguous.
In CASE1, login_processes_count = 2, forked imap-login processes are
8.

security = ADS
Hi all,
I've been fighting with joining my samba server (debian) to my active directory domain for 4 days now. The problem here is that users in my active directory domain on windows machines are not able to browse my samba shares without being prompted for authentication.
I can:
- Join the domain from samba server using net ads
- View list of tickets when brownsing window shares with

setting up a RODC
Hello Stefan,
you need to use "-U" with user from Domain Admin group(maybe it works
with other users too, but I didn't test it).

LDAP-based NIS server .vs. NIS migration to LDAP?
Greetings!
I tried to post this question to openldap group but somehow my post never
showed up there.
Anyway, I built PDC using Samba3 and OPENLDAP and now like to integrade NIS
service to it. I searched the net there are quite a few guides on how to
replace NIS with LDAP.
However, in our environment, we have almost all sorts of Unix platforms,
e.g. Linux (mainly Redhat), Solaris, HPUX, AIX,

NIS problems
I've got a RHEL5 server acting as a NIS/NFS server, and connected one C5
machine just fine.
I'm trying to connect another, and for the life of me, cannot figure out
why NIS won't bind. NFS works fine. ypbind just hangs. I disabled
SELinux and the firewall. I just cannot get it to bind.
Ideas?
Thanks.

NIS/YP revelation (I think)
So I configured my Enterprise 5 server to have NFS configured on specific
ports via the NFS Server menu option.
Since having done that, I am unable to get my two CentOS 5 workstations to
bind via YP. One worked just fine before the port reconfiguration, but
broke after. The other never worked fine.
NFS works fine on both, but NIS will no longer bind.
What do I need to change on the client

NIS/Samba update
My test setup consists of Enterprise 5 server running NIS and Samba, and
dual-boot XP and CentOS 5 clients.
On my test setup, I'm able to create new samba accounts and change samba
passwords with no problems.
NIS still gives me problems, though. I am unable to change passwords no
matter what. Also, ypwhich on the client returns localhost.
I have reviewed everything, including configs

MD5 and NIS
Does anybody know whether it is possible to enable MD5 passwords for NIS and
local passwords? Is it just a matter of running
authconfig --enablemd5
and new passwords will use MD5 and old ones will still work?
Of course using LDAP might be a "better" solution (if it was easy to
install).
I've tried googling and didn't get any useful answers...

Help with nis password changes
I normally try not to ask questions until I have done as much research as
possible, and again, this is the case...
Just after I thought I had my RH5 samba/nis server working fine, I come across
the inability to update nis passwords.
