Help for Samba 3 and Win ADS
Hi there!
Just started to play around with Samba 3 (on debian 3.0) and a win2000
domain. Can anyone help me to integrate the Samba server into the win
domain? It should act as a file server for the useres and groups from win
and therefor I need different rights and permissions for the shares...
Any help is appreciated ;-)
Regards

Winbind fails w/ 3beta3
I'm having an unusual problem with my new samba servers. Notice,
servers is plural, meaning all of my new servers are experiencing
exactly the same problem at different times throughout the day, which
leads me to believe that the "problem" is not with samba but with my
Win2k server. However, I still need help in determining what is causing
the problem...

NT_STATUS_LOGON_FAILURE on auth to a win NT4-server
Hello,
after long searching in the docs, the web and my Samba-books
I have to ask here.
I followed exact the steps described in the book: "samba-3 by example" up to chapter 5.
What kind of trouble indicates this errormessage after trying this:
server:# smbclient //domain/SHARE -U user -d 2
Password:
session setup failed: NT_STATUS_LOGON_FAILURE

pdb_init_sam errors on upgrade to Samba 3
Hi,
I have been running Samba 2.2 on a server without any problems until
recently. We're currently in the process of upgrading our aging NT
workstations, and replacing them with new machines running XP Pro.
Yesterday I was bitten by a printing problem, which I think is bug 1147
in the bug database. In order to fix this, I have upgraded the server to
Samba 3.0.14. It's running Debian

Samba 3.0.2 mapped by Actve Directory
I have spent a while trying to join a samba machine to our university's
active directory structure so that allowed users can map to it by simply
running \\webserver
I was able to join the machine just fine via: net ads join
VPSA/UH/UH-_ResComp_Servers/ -U adminname
And now I can run wbinfo -u to get a listing of all users on our
network. I have the right permissions, because from that

Auth problem
Linuxbox with Samba 3.0 has been joined Win2k domain with command "net ads
join" & "net rpc join".
winbindd & smbd & nmbd started successfully without any error messages. I
could use "wbinfo -u" & "wbinfo -g" to get domain user/group list.
But I cannot use "genent passwd" to get New mapped uid, it only returned
local linux accounts.

Authentication problem
I've got a RH9 box with samba 3.0.0 using winbind and pam for windows
client and user authentication to a 2003 AD DC.
This morning I started having problems with a few shares that then
cascaded into a larger issue of being able to authenticate any client to
the machine.
I configured Kerberos with my realm information and have added the
machine to the domain several times and have been

Samba and trusted domains
Hi All,
I installed samba 3.0.22 and join it to Win2003 AD domain.
Users from my domain can access the samba shares successfully.
My problem is that users from trusted domains can not access to my samba
shares
Wbinfo -m - show all the trusted domains
Wbinfo -u - show all the users include the trusted domains users.
Any Idea?

Samba 2.2 vs. 3: Domain Member & Winbind quick question
I have a Samba 2.2 box set up as a member server in a Windows domain.
Any random Windows domain user can connect and a local Linux system
account is created on the fly, as it should.
I am trying to do the same on another box with Samba 3. However, when I
connect from a Windows domain member, I get prompted for credentials. If I
enter domain\username and my password, I connect and a local Linux

auth error
I have samba 3.0.1-2 installed on red hat 8 box. I am getting an error
when I try to authenticate to this server.
make_server_info_info3: pdb_init_sam failed!
I have searched for hours and can't find an answer as to what this error
is caused by. Can someone at least point me in the right direction?
Thanks,

Winbind issue
I have 3 Linux rh9.0 servers on the network all using Samba/LDAP to
authenticate. One is acting as the PDC and the other two are domain
members. On one server I don't have winbind running and everything works
great, however, on the other server, if I turn off the winbind I get a
password prompt and cannot access the server. I have no need for winbind
but I'm forced to keep it on.
