solution to domain reboot problem
Hey, I had a problem with rebooting XP and joining the samba domain, which was controlled by my gentoo linux box. I worked for days for a solution, and found it....!!!! The problem was that I could join the domain fine, but had to reboot, and then found i was rejected from joining then. It appeared like the domain was invisible to the XP box. I pulled my hair out, scoured the web

explorer.exe crashes on security tab access
This is a long-standing issue going back at least a year from what I can see in mailing list archives. Still not working as of Samba 4.8.3. I think MS broke something with one of the Windows 10 updates. In my situation, this is a brand-new 4.8.3 install. For me the crashes happen when I try to edit the share folder permissions right out of the box from whatever Samba set in there by default.

Can't get view samba 3.0 server via winXP, using domain security
I'm sure I'm probably making a common beginner mistake here somewhere, but I'm stumped. The facts: 1. Running samba 3.0.0-2 on rh 7.2. Trying to access shares on the Linux box from a WinXP box. 2. From my linux box, "smbclient //mybox/tmp" connects fine. I can see //mybox in Windows Server Manger, but not via net view or Network Neighborhood on the XP box. If I try

Issues with print command group membership
Hi, I have a Samba print share set up, with a "print command" specified that just cats the file to /dev/ulpt0. This share is accessed by the guest Samba account, which I have set to be the 'smbguest' username. I can manually run the print command as root, and the file prints. I can manually run the print command as 'smbguest' (through sudo) and the file prints.

echo cancellation on an iax2 channel
I have minor echo on an IAX2 channel when using Firefly and a head set. I have tried various headsets and settings but still a little bit of the echo remains and I'd love to get rid of it. After some research I stubled on zaptel/mec2.h but it seem that it works only on the ZAP channel. Is there something I can do on the IAX2 channel?

Question regarding Samba and security = share
I am really new to configuring and maintaining samba, and have what I belive should be a quick question. I have recently installed Samba 2.2.2 on a Solaris 8 server. I need to make a directory on the samba server accessable by a small group of people here at work. The users who will be connecting to the samba share do not have accounts on the samba server. The are coming from Windows 2K boxes

USB 3.0 NIC / Sitecom NL-031
Hi, I have a Sitecom NL-031 USB 3.0 NIC which I'd like to use under centos 6.5, but unfortunately I see no support. Or, I am doing something wrong. According to LKDDb (Linux Kernel Driver DataBase), the correct driver is "CONFIG_USB_NET_AX8817X: ASIX AX88xxx Based USB 2.0 Ethernet Adapters" but obviously, I've grabbed a non matching "iProduct", because mine is

Samba Win2k problem
I have a samba server version 2.2.7a-8.9.0 running on RedHat 9.0. It is acting as a domain controller. I have some win2k clients logging in to this domain and mapping home shares, shared drives, etc. The network the servers are on is 1000Mb and the client networks are all 100Mb. The client networks are linked via 1000Mb uplink. The problem I'm having is that when a user copies a fair

Do software raids don't dance Samba?
Hey all, well, first of all (even if it's quite late as it's in version 3.0.7 already): thanks a lot to all who are developing and supporting Samba! I'm new to Linux and I really like the way things are happening on this OS. But now, I've reached a point where I have to raise the white flag... It seems to me like - at least my - software raid can't dance Samba. I've got

Does automatic printer driver download from Win 2k client work?
Hi, I am playing around with automatic printer driver download to Windows 2000 clients from Samba 2.2.8a-1 which doesn't seem to work. Whenever I right-click on the printer and say "connect", it displays: The server on which the printer resides does not have the correct printer driver installed..... Here is my smb.conf file: [Global] workgroup = DEBIAN_FANS load printers = yes

Samba with 389 Directory Server Auth problem
Hi Folks, I had a crack at setting up a Samba PDC using a fresh installation of FDS 1.2.4 as the backend on one of our RHEL 5.3 servers per the Wiki Howto:Samba but ran into a few issues. In the section 'Populating FDS with PDC Entry', it instructs the user to run 'net getlocalsid'. This results in the following: [root at mybox logs]# net getlocalsid

Delete glitch?
Hey, everyone. I'm running Samba 2.2.8a on a Debian Linux 3.0 box and for some reason, when someone tries to delete something they can't, it does give them the access denied message the first time. When they try to do it again, no message appears and it seems to be deleted (it disappears from the list), but when they refresh the list, it appears again. My file system is as follows

SWAT Won't Start - Alarm Clock
Hey everyone, If anyone could help me with this problem, I'd greatly appreciate it. Whenever I try to start swat (from the command-line by invoking /usr/sbin/swat), it sits there for a very long time as if it's running, but any attempt to use telnet to the port or point my browser at it results in nothing, as if swat were just not running. Firewalling is no issue, I've disabled

SysV style printer interface (Works atleast in SCO)
Samba comes with some sort of sysv stylish printer interface but it doesnt do much except puts the file queued to printspooler to smb printer. I've made few posts to differenet newsgroups and ran a quick search thru sambas mailing lists and didnt find anything *really* usefull. What i really needed was printer reseting and lp commandline parsing so that i could change to cpi and lpi
