Recommended way of restricting action permissions?
Hi, I just have a "best practices" question. I''d like to block users that don''t own a particular resource from performing edit/update/ destroy actions on it. Here''s how I currently do it: ## User has many resources, of different types ------- resource_controller.rb ------- before_filter :require_ownership, :only => [:edit, :update, :destroy] ... public

It seems that flash is a part of session, and session uses cookies... so when i disable cookie in Firefox, what was working became ActionController::InvalidAuthenticityToken so is it true that for a RoR app to work, cookies are mandatory? -- Posted via http://www.ruby-forum.com/.

Swen virus and spam appears to be coming from Samba list
Shortly after I subscribed to this Samba list I started receiving numerous emails infected with the Swen/Gibe worm. Many of these emails contained the email addresses of Samba list members. I believe a subscriber of the Samba list has the Swen virus. Has anyone else on this list been getting emails infected with the Swen/Gibe worm? Please update your virus definitions and do a virus scan just to

too much spam - filtering the mailinglist
Hi ! Today i deleted more then 60(!) spam-messages on this list I think it would be a good idea, to limit the possible senders of this list to the addresses which are subscribed. Html help
I have just installed R 2.11.1 on my XP laptop. I like html help for browsing but text help for on-the-fly look-ups. I was a bit surprised when I was asked to choose between them during the installation. I chose text, thinking I could fix the html help later, which is what I am trying to do now. Now when I ask for html help my browser goes to 'http://-ip-number-/doc/html/index.html'

Extracting formula from an lm object
I want to extra the part of the formula not including the response variable from an lm object. For example if the lm object ABx.lm was created by the call ABx.lm <- lm( y ~ A + B + x, ...) Then ACx.lm is saved as part of a workspace. I wish to extract "~ A + B + x". Later in my code I will fit another linear model of the form z ~ A + B + x for some other response variable z. I

wxRuby and other GUI toolkits
So, having subscribed recently to the ruby-talk mailing list, I''ve noticed that wxruby doesn''t seem to have the "respect" of other GUI libraries. I know GUI-library preference is a holy war almost up there with vi versus emacs, but since I''m a wxruby developer, I''d like to know what people "don''t" like about wxruby. Otherwise,

Suspend/resume on IBM X31
Greetings I am having trouble with suspend/resume on my Thinkpad X31, running 7.0-STABLE as of April 23. Any help would be appreciated. First problem: When I run "acpiconf -s3" from mulituser mode, the system suspends immediately, without executing /etc/rc.suspend (which has mode 755); then on resume, I get a panic. Second problem: When the system panics, I don't get a dump (or

Voice calls sent to fax extension
I have a situation that has repeated itself a few times. Someone calls into Asterisk and is connected with a voice extension. At some point during the call, the log shows "chan_zap.c: DTMF digit: f on Zap/2-1". At this point, the call is redirected to receive a fax and the Asterisk voice extension is hung up. The users report that there were no noticable tones heard just before the

Channel bleedover?
Occassionally on calls we get what sounds like low volume channel bleedover. Not clear enough to make out words, but not echo of either side of the main coversation. We're using a Digium card with 11 channels connected to PSTN lines. Any ideas on what the problem is or how to go about troubleshooting? Thanks! Paul

Issues adding sub-menu items

I''m currently stuck when it comes to adding another item to the sub-menus. I have a menu item by the name of "Tools" and I would like to add a sub-menu item called "Find Unique Fields" but it doesn''t show up
