Repost: 'We dont' find this rid' error - can't join a domain
I'm posting this again in the hope that someone can shed some light on the error - I've included logs and as much detail as I can! Chris -------- Original Message -------- I'm using Samba 2.2.8a on Red Hat 8. I was able to set up Samba running as a PDC and have my Windows 2000 client join the domain and authenticate users, map home drives, etc, without any problems. I've now

Compiling Samba with LDAP support on Solaris 9 x86
I'm trying to compile Samba 2.2.8a with the --with-ldapsam flag on Solaris 9 for x86 with latest Sun patches. Running 'make' fails with the output below. I've checked all the resources I can find online, but can't find what I'm doing wrong. I have OpenLDAP installed and my LD_LIBRARY_PATH set to point to OpenLDAP's libraries. I'm using GCC 3.2 and Sun's

What libs req'd to resolve DNS within a chroot jail?
Hi, I've been working at getting a tftp server up an running in a chroot jail, and I have finally succeed getting almost everything working. The server itself works fine, however, it is implemented as a tcpwrapper application (ie: in.tftpd) and I am having trouble getting it to resolve DNS names. I copied my /etc/hosts.allow and /etc/hosts.deny in my chroot/etc folder, however, they

Re:Icecast with Winamp
I am using only WinAmp 2.x and 5.x It works in WinAmp2.x and 5.x at the college network (T1 line), but not at home with cable modem (even with firewall switched off). It tries to prebuffer over 20 minutes - 5 second burst of music and then quits with message (-2:-11). Again, no problem if using FOOBAR2000, but it would be nice to have it work in WinAmp. join domain failure "system account not in primary...."
I am trying join a w2k bo to a samba DC on RH9. I have read that I need to add the computer as a user first then join so I did it via these commands: adduser myComputer$ smbpasswd -a -m myComputer Is that all i need to do? When I join I get the "welcome to the domain message" and then I restart. However when trying to login I get "This systems computer account is not in the

Hey guys, I'm trying to migrate my NT4 Domain and am having some problems. Ignoring my other post related to this, I can't get any of my machines to be able to login. Alls I ever get is "Your computer account was not found or the password is incorrect" I even tried rejoining the domain which works. I leave the domain and then rejoin it, it takes a LONG time (might just be

W2k Server CD req'd for upload
I've searched several times for a response to this question but have found no responses, only similar but unanswered questions. The question is, why am I prompted for a W2k Server CD when I try to use Add Printer Wizard on a W2k Workstation to upload printer drivers to a Samba server? ... and is there a way around this when you don't have W2k Server? Our Samba server is CIFS/9000 (Samba

Recovering Windows computer account string
Greetings- We utilize the smbpasswd text file back end. One machine (VM machine) suddenly thinks its entry in the Samba PDC's smbpasswd file is no longer correct. Is there a way to fetch that number back out of a Windows 2000 workstation and "paste" it into the smbpasswd file to re-trust the workstation? Thanks! -- Michael Lueck Lueck Data Systems

Setting up SMB Server
In the docs there is a reference to a nonexistent section, 1.4.x, which is supposed to have information for setting up shares. I cannot find this section in any of the FAQ's I have, and would like some help. I am able to access other SMB servers (Win98), but unable to allow them to access me. The computer is listed on the other computers, but I cannot make them browse. I have set up a guest

RE: Greetings file played upon mount
I'm using icecast2 and ices2, and was wondering if it is possible to have a "greetings" file to be played (eg. Station ID) prior to listening to audio stream from playlist (where-ever position it is playing from).... I checked conf examples, but didn't see anything that stood out... RE: Two questions
I am happy using icecast/ices, but have two questions: 1. If I was using cron to schedule a switching of a playlist, can I do this without restarting icecast so that at a SPECIFIC TIME (let's say at exactly 3:00 pm) a new song can be played without interupting the user listening to the broadcast. 2. Is there a setting when the user first connects to play a *welcome* file (i.e. about the

FLAC downloads available for new album produced by Trent Reznor
Sorry, I'm sure it's terribly offtopic, but thought it was extremely interesting that the new album[1] by Saul Williams, produced by Trent Reznor, is available for download for 5 bucks. It's nice to see FLAC getting some respect! ;) [1] http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Inevitable_Rise_and_Liberation_of_NiggyTardust! -- avuton -- Anyone who quotes me in their sig is an idiot. --
