Latest debian (testing) version crashed strangely
Hi there, First post to this list - apologies if there's a more appropriate place for discussion of debian specific builds, but this looks like a generic-enough bug. Samba "smbd version 3.0.0beta2-1 for Debian" running on 2.4.21 linux kernel on Athlon machine. WinXpPro client machine opening a mapped drive from samba share in a "Add attachment" dialog in Mozilla 1.4.

net getlocalsid problem
Hi I decided after some testing and experimenting, to move the production servers from 2.2.x to 3.0. so I've installed samba3.0 in paralel with the old binaries. To start the migration I wanted to save the old domain SID, to can make the migration as transparent as possible, so I did: net3 -d 10 -I 127.0.0.1 getlocalsid while the old binaries are still runing all that I've got

ADS Join problem samba3.0.14a kerberos 1.3.5
Hi List, I'm getting an error join an ADS Domain, using samba 3.0.14a & kerberos 1.3.5. When I look at the debug output from the join attempt, it almost seems as though The join is looking for an OU or something from the AD that doesn't exist. I'm not an Windows person and the AD admins are not around to help peep this out. Can anyone take a look at the debug output below and

Trust relationship failed...
I'm hoping someone can give me a hand in figuring out this problem, I have seen several other similar problems in searching, but nothing that exactly matches what I am seeing here. I have recently migrated a client from a Samba server running 2.2.7 (Redhat 9) to 3.0.2 (Fedora 1). The samba installation is running as a PDC for 5 Win XP workstations and was working perfectly prior to the

re. Initial Samba Setup
On a recommendation from this list I checked the junklog file, the output from which I attached below. It looks as if it does not even see the linux machine as it indicates not seeing "explorer" which is the local netbios name. The Win XP machine does not even show in the log. Here is the last entry for nmbd.log: ***** [2003/11/21 06:24:58, 0] nmbd/nmbd.c:terminate(54) Got SIGTERM:

Changed PDC IP, all hell broke lose
I had to move my RedHat 5 box acting as a PDC to a new IP address. It is running samba 3.5.10. After the move, none of my windows or linux samba clients worked anymore. I tried rejoining some to the domain, but would get error Unable to find a suitable server Join to domain 'MRIRESEARCH' is not valid The old PDC IP address is 132.183.202.95 and nothing is at that IP anymore (for 4

Minor probs after upgrade to 3.0.0beta2
Firstly, I am running beta2 as AD member. Auth through Winbind. Upgrading from beta1 to beta2 using RPM on RH 9 I noticed that Winbind will not start and smb will not stop using Init scripts. Seems to me RH9 /etc/init.d/winbind need the "winbind uid" parameter ? Here is the /var/log/samba/log.winbind output. [2003/07/04 13:54:52, 1] nsswitch/winbindd.c:main(811) winbindd version

WINS server 127.0.0.1 timed out registering IP
Hi all. After set up a BDC, I found a weird problem on my log.nmbd file, the case is that my nmb (on BDC) is not able to connect to the local wins "server", just receive a time out . I set the wins support = yes which is the only mandatory parameter according to samba doc. I tried to shut down the firewall even. The log output is: === ....... === become_logon_server: Atempting

DNS_INFO_NO_RECORDS when trying to join domain
Hi. I've a Samba 3.4.7 running on Ubuntu 10.04 configured as PDC. It has always worked but lately these months strange things started to happen: clients cannot join the domain anymore. I had to reinstall a computer but when I tried to add it back to the domain I get this error message in Windows XP: DNS_INFO_NO_RECORDS. It seems windows cannot get server name via dns? 302rc1 and AIX 5.2
I'm getting some wierd things going on. Mostly segfaults with testparm, but others as well... AIX 5.2, IBM C compiler version 6.0, libiconv 1.9.1 compiled in shared mode. I've resolved the LIBPATH thing so I can compile correctly now. When I start nmbd, or smbd with the -D option they just chew up a ton of cpu and log level 10 only shows the code pages being mapped and that's it. I

cross-subnet domain join issue
I am one hurdle away from finishing my test PDC with ldap and password sync. Its been a hair raising effort... and if I can solve this one issue, we'll be ready to kick our Windows PDC out the window. When I attempt to initially join the domain ( LOGOS ) from a win2K client residing on a different subnet, I get the following: -------- The following error occured validating the name

Samba Problem
Hi this is really a last resort as I'm literally pulling my hair out over AIX and Samba and cannot find any threads on this particular issue. Basically we have 3 systems running AIX 5.1 and Samba 2.2.7 We upgraded one system to Aix 5.2 and everything works no problem. Upgraded the next two and both will not join the domain using the smbpasswd -j domain-name -r ny0000000 -U
