Samba 3.0.2a problems on Solaris 8
Tried to upgrade our Samba 2.2.8a domain controller (Solaris 8) to Samba
3.0.2a. Compiled using gcc 3.3.2, linked to libiconv-1.8, popt-1.7 and
cups-1.1.20.
I shut down the Samba 2.2.8a. Removed everything in var/locks. Did a
"make install" to install 3.0.2a, then restarted Samba. My smb.conf is
basically the same as 2.2.8a with "domain admin group" removed.

3.0.3 bug when in > 16 Unix groups
Upgraded our Solaris 8 and 9 servers from 3.0.2a to 3.0.3.
After upgrading any user that was in more than 16 Unix groups wasn't able to
map any drives. I get this error in the log file:

Problems with 2003 Server and Samba 3.0.1
We have a Windows 2003 server that is a member of a Samba 2.2.8a domain. We
can browse to this Samba server through "My Network Places" and map a drive
to a share on this server. We also have a number of Samba 3.0.1 servers
(running Solaris 8 and Red Hat 7.0).
These are member servers of the Samba 2.2.8a domain. Using "My Network
Places" on the Windows 2003 server, double

2003 Server won't join or leave domain
We've got a Windows 2003 server which won't join our Samba domain, it just sits
their forever after I give the root password to join. It doesn't give an \
error message or "Welcome to domainxyz" message.
It also won't join a workgroup, which is strange. Has anyone else seen this
problem? No problems with XPSP2 clients. Not got 2003 SP1 on yet, might try
that next.

How do I become a domain admin?
Just setup a new domain controller running Samba-3.0.20b.
Using smbpasswd file (no LDAP).
How do I setup a group of users so they become domain administrators?
I thought I just typed this:
% net groupmap modify ntgroup="Domain Admins" unixgroup=ntadmin
I am in group unix ntadmin, but I'm it doesn't seem to work.

Weird problems with printing
Just swapped our Solaris SAMBA PDC for a SuSE Linux machine. It's the domain
controller as well as print server (via CUPS). It's running SuSE 9.3 with
Samba-3.0.20b.
The setup is identical to the old Solaris machine, had to re-add all machines
to the domain. Has been working OK for 2 days then suddenly some people
couldn't print and I can no longer add printers to any XP machine.

Problems printing to remote windows shared printer with 3.0.20
Have just upgraded from 3.0.13 to 3.0.20 on our Solaris domain controller.
Machine is also print server running CUPS-1.1.23.
We have a RICOH network printer that we print to via Samba (the printer seems to have
a builtin Windows PC).
smbspool is linked to /usr/lib/cups/backend/smb and the appropriate DeviceURI is in
/etc/cups/printers.conf.
This works fine with 3.0.13, but with 3.0.20 I get this

XP will no longer download print drivers
We're using Cups and Samba with Adobe Postscript Drivers to print from XP SP2
machines via our Solaris and Linux Domain Controllers. Everything has been
working OK, but when I setup an a new printer (identical ppd file to another
one), it doesn't download the drivers on XP when I add the printer.
This is happening on two domain controllers in different offices.
It gives the error when

WINS not updating after swapping network connections
Our domain controller is running Samba 2.2.8a on Solaris 8.
We have XP laptops. We swap between a builtin network card, docking port and
wireless card. All of these have separate IP addresses.
If I say, boot up with the wireless card, then remove it and use the builtin
network card, the IP address in wins.dat on the server doesn't change. It
still has the IP address of the wireless card.

No XP machines in browse list with 3.0.22
Upgraded the domain controllers in our 2 sites from 3.0.20 to 3.0.22.
The one running Suse Linux is working fine, but the Solaris 8 domain controller
doesn't list any XP machines in its browse list (the Firewall is off on the XP
machines). Lists Unix machines, 2000 and 2003 machines.
This was all working in 3.0.20. Has anything changed?

Marginal write performance & pauses in outgoing transfers - Possible bug
Hello everybody,
I have a FreeBSD 4.8-STABLE server running Samba 2.2.8a and a workstation
running Windows 2000 SP4. Whereas FTP transfers between these boxes average
700 KB/s (10 mbps LAN) in both directions, Samba transfers are exhibiting
this odd behavior:
Windows 2000 --> Samba = 700 KB/s (perfect)
Samba --> Windows 2000 = 100 KB/s (terrible, inconsistent, with LONG pauses)
Trust me,

drive mapping's connection problems
Hi
My company network is built from a series of Solaris
machines running samba (2.2.x) and windows 2000 clients.
The domain controller is samba 2.2.8a. When someone logs
on the login script maps a few shares to drive letters.
Recently the drive mappings started getting disconnected
and when pressed they print out the error:

getting rid of NetBIOS
Is it possible to run a samba server strictly over TCP/IP? (i.e. without
NetBIOS) -- I can turn off NetBIOS on win2k but I only see the win2k
computers which are sharing drives now -- no samba servers.
I'd like to see if this improves my performance since NetBIOS seems stuck
with small (1 ethernet frame, no fragmentation) packets.
Regards,
Andrew

That's the wrong attitude. It's just a couple of boxes
radioing each other over wires. It must be amenable to
common sense reasoning with a pinch of know-how.

You are OK, only a little stressed.

Multivariate mixture distributions
Hello, I am searching for a way to generate random values from a multivariate mixture distribution. For starters, one could create a mixture distribution consisting of a gamma or normal distribution and then a tail/spike of values in a normal distribution (eg as in Figure 1,?A Eyre-Walker, PD Keightley. 2007. The distribution of fitness effects of new mutations. Nature Review Genetics 8: 610-618)

Question about TableGen RegisterClass definition
Hi All,
I have a question about TableGen RegisterClass definition.
I need to map different size of MVTs into a register class as below.
def TestReg : RegisterClass<"Test", [v8i32, v4i32], ...>
When I look at TableGen and CodeGen, it looks the types are used as following:
1. MCRegisterClass's RegSize and Alignment
2. SpillSize in TableGen
3. Type constraint for instruction

isSSA computation in MIR parser
Hi,
I noticed that a while ago the isSSA flag was removed from MIR, and this
property is now computed. However, the deduction only checks the virtual
registers (whether they are assigned to more than once). Now I have MIR
tests which live after RA, so they only contain physical registers, so
the parser determines they are in SSA form. These tests now fail because
some of our passes can be

[DWARF] prologue_end fix not working for VLIW
Hi,
I found that prologue_end markers where badly placed in my test, and
applied https://reviews.llvm.org/D41762 in the hope that it would fix it
(I'm on 4.0.1).
However, this fix doesn't work for VLIW architectures. At this point
we're iterating over bundles, not MachineInstructions, and the
FrameSetup flag is set on MachineInstructions, not bundles.
If bundling happens in the
