ok, i ran through the diagnosis.txt and on steps 3,8, and 9 i get errors. on 8 and 9 i get "no service is opperating at the destination network endpoint on the romote system." After trying to get WinXP (Pro) to try and find my domain so I can log on I've finally done it, but now when I try and join my WinXP client to the domain, windows asks me to enter the username and password of an account with permission to join the domain. I've tried to determine this empirically, but have run foul of config issues that won't be resolved in the immediate future. Basically, I know that Samba + ACL + an acl-aware filesystem will allow me to assign unix-style permissions to arbitrary groups of people for a given file. Dear all, We are trying to get the Windows client to print thought postscript printers to SAMBA box, Windows apps (Words, Outlook, etc..) freeze for a long time to spool and print to SAMBA ghostscript. Having trouble with Samba. The config file passes the test (testparm) The Server seems to be upa and running fine (smbclient -L localhost) But can't seem to connect to it from other computers (running 2000 or 98) They were able to connect once though. What should be listed on port 139 in services. We have : netbios-ssn Does this sound right? Appreciate any help/suggestions!! Regards, Andrew
