Lots of files in lost+found ...
Hi,
I've recently had a spate of filesystem errors on my laptop which
is running a vanilla RedHat 7.2 (kernel 2.4.7) using the ext3
filesystem on all partitions.
I have been using the laptop with no apparent problems for some time
but last weekend, when I was trying to compile Evolution overnight,
I hit a compile problem; it complained that a Makefile didn't exist
in a script directory.

ext3 patch for 2.4.6 (plain or ac1)
Does the ext3 patch applies on top of the newly released
2.4.6 kernel (and/or the 2.4.6-ac1 variant) ?
I want to upgrade to the new kernel and wanted to know
before I run into problems if there are any known problems
and if it's better to wait for an 'official' release.
Thanks.
Stelian.

0.9.2 or 0.9.3 ?
Hi,
I found out that a new version of ext3-2.4 was available from
the previous messages on this list, despite the fact that
no 'official' announce was given...
I'm currently running 0.9.1 on 2.4.6-ac2 without problems. Should
I upgrade to 0.9.2 (I suppose yes by reading the changelog :-)) ?
What about the 0.9.3-pre version ? What does the -pre mean exactly
(any incidence on the

Ok, Im an idiot. Can't remount the ext3 filesystem because I deleted the /.jounral file...
Hello everyone,
Ok, I admit it - I'm an idiot. But it seemed the right thing to do at
the time.... I'm running RH 6.2 with a 2.2.19ext3 (ext3 0.0.7).
I wanted to try out the new 2.4 kernel line, so I upgraded modutils, gcc
and few other things.. Compiled the kernel (did NOT patch it to ext3)
and installed it and rebooted. Well, it didn't understand ext3 fs.. Ok...

lme syntax for P&B examples
Hi helpeRs,
I've been working through some examples in Pinhiero & Bates( 2000)
trying to understand how to translate to the new Lme4 syntax but without
much luck.
Below is what I think I should do, but either the answers don't come out
the same or I get errors.
In the Oxide problems I'm particularly interested in obtaining the
levels coeficients but this options no longer seems

lmer multilevel
My question relates to problems that I'm having matching lme and lmer
examples in P&B.
using Matix 0.995
In the Oxide example in p167-170 I can't get the level 2 coefficient
estimates to match
the fm1Oxide model in lme is
data(Oxide,package="nlme")
lme(Thickness~1,Oxide)
which I translate in Lmer syntax to

Lmer BLUPS: was(lmer multilevel)
Paul:
I may have found the issue (which is similar to your conclusion). I
checked using egsingle in the mlmRev package as these individuals are
strictly nested in this case:
library(mlmRev)
library(nlme)
fm1 <- lme(math ~ year, random=~1|schoolid/childid, egsingle)
fm2 <- lmer(math ~ year +(1|schoolid:childid) + (1|schoolid), egsingle)
Checking the summary of both models, the output is

Deleting files from dump?
Is it possible to delete a file from dump? I saved it in one dump archive,
and want to save space by deleting it from the others.
Thanks.

I thought that the message,
https://listman.redhat.com/pipermail/ext3-users/2001-July/000804.html
, was the official announcement.
BTW, no problems here with 0.9.0. 1 week and some hours of

Strange performance issue on CentOS 6.7 server
I?m running CentOS 6.7 on my build servers, and on one of the servers the builds are taking almost an order of magnitude longer than usual. There are no runaway processes and there is plenty of free memory. So I suspected that file I/O might be slow, and sure enough, that appears to be the case. I ran a simple dd test and compared the results to a ?normal? build server (412 MB/s vs. 31.7 MB/s).

2GB of Waste? How can it be?
Dr. Tweedie, et al.:
I recently formatted a partition using EXT3, and after a "df -h"
I get 14GB of space. When I reformatted the partition with ReiserFS, and
did a "df -h" I got 16GB of space!
Now the partition was setup to be 16GB via fdisk, so 16GB is
correct. However, why does EXT3 loose 2GB of space? The journals cannot
be that big!?!
Very Respectfully,

asterisk 1.8 on Solaris/sparc
I've got the latest asterisk 1.8 running on a Netra X1 with Solaris 10 u10.
The system itself is happy and phone calls (between two parties) seem fine.
Unfortunately, when a caller listens to a Playback recording, there
seems to be moments of stutter - perhaps 1 second of stutter for every
10 seconds of Playback. The stutter is not consistent at the same point
of the playback file.

Issues when updating CentOS 7
Hi all,
I wanted to update my CentOS 7 install this morning and I started
getting the errors from below.
Any ideas on a fix?
They seem to be related to cinnamon which I actually don't use at all
(the machine was prepared by our IT at work and they install both
Gnome and Cinnamon by default).
Since I don't use it, I guess an option would be to remove it
altogether and then I will

Hello,
I have two sip phones (zoiper). Earlier these used to communicate using the

does 1.8.29.0 release require any more changes to be done to the sip.conf
and extensions.conf to make the below work ?
The sip.conf contains following enteries

SMBD - NMBD problem
Hi guys,
I realy need your help.
It looks like SMBD doesn't want to talk with NMBD, but why?
When I run the command: nmblookup torpc8
The result is:

Got a positive name query response from 10.5.2.27 ( 10.5.2.27 )

That is correct.
When I run the command: smbclient -NL torpc8
The result is:
