Vorbis works on Mac OS X Public Beta now
I have got libao up to oggenc and ogg123 working on Mac OS X Public Beta now. I'd like to submit patches, but last time I did, they never got committed by anyone. Who is in charge of committing stuff? Does someone want to nominate themselves to review and commit my patches?
The patches are briefly:
- On Mac OS X dlopen() is not very well supported, so libao has been cleaned up a bit to

Problems with Mac OS X Beta 3 display?
Beyond a general problem with X11, that it sometimes doesn't display
-especially when it is inactive for a while- new windows (like new
terminal, R device, or emacs) and only the restart helps, I found a
problem which might also be especially the X11's problem.
>From an apple Terminal window, the following code (which is the first
boot.ci example) works just fine.

Mac OS X DP4 patches
I've tweaked Tim Wood's Mac OS X DP4 patches so they compile and
run reasonably well on OS X DP4 and added a couple minor tweaks
of my own. I've placed diffs from the head revision in cvs at
my web site:
<http://www.gizzywump.com/vorbis-macosx-diffs>
This includes a new file at vorbis-tools/libao/ao_macosx.c,
which is in the diff.
Note that "patch" doesn't seem

Mac OS X version of Wine should be official
I have a new Mac OS X system that I want to run some games on. I don't want to have to buy Windows just to run a few games (which is the reason for the switch, as well as for doing photography). I downloaded the beta version for Mac OS and it runs fantastic. No problems, good templates (although there could be more), and easy of use make it great and a joy to use.
I don't understand why

Packaging an Application on Mac OS X with Platypus
Platypus (http://sveinbjorn.sytes.net/platypus) is an application that
takes a shell script and packages it as a clickable Mac OS X
application.
I would like to have a clickable application that executes the command
"script/server" and displays the output in the text window, alongside
with a "quit"-button that ends the server process.
My shell script looks like this:

Building R from source under Mac OS X 10.8.2?
Hello,
I'm trying to build R from source under Mac OS X 10.8.2 (Mountain Lion)
by following the FAQ and I run into a problem with the Fortran
compiler (downloaded from http://cran.r-project.org/bin/macosx/tools/),
specifically, gfortran-4.2.3. I have Xcode 4.6 installed along with
the latest command-line tools (dated Feb. 9, 2013).

(PR#14226) -- Re: libgfortran misplaced in Mac OS X R install (PR#14226)
I am the guy who compiles the OpenMx binaries. We would be delighted
to place our package on CRAN, once the project is stable enough so
that we are comfortable releasing it to the larger public. Let's try
to track down where I made a mistake. Our Makevars.in file contains
the line:
PKG_LIBS=$(FLIBS) $(BLAS_LIBS) $(LAPACK_LIBS)
In addition, on the build machine I noticed that a copy of

Awesome work Wayne. I have been following the various threads about
running rsync 3.0.0 on MacOS X 10.4.11 and wanted to confirm that
following all the various bits of advice yields a clean running rsync
(as tested by backup bouncer).
I am running MacOS X 10.4.11 on PPC. The following is a synopsis of
my installation procedure (as gathered from the various emails in the

Need help setting up app with Mac OS X Leopard
I have d/l Wine and would like to prepare a Windows app to run on
Leopard.
Any tips for a complete newbie? Nothing seems to happen when I run
Wine, other than the little half-full (or is it half-empty?) glass on
the menu bar.
Many thanks!

Openshot 2.x (beta) on C7??
Well, by the looks of it, it bundles all the deps in one archive, so you no longer depend on system ones, but also you miss out on system updates.
As an example, should there be another openssl vulnerability, "yum update openssl" will not save you, you'll have to wait for the Openshot dev to issue an updated appimage.
