Xapian 1.4.5 "Db block overwritten - are there multiple writers?" with Glass
Hello,
Since the migration to xapian 1.4.X and the migration to Glass, i've
recurrent database corruption errors. I've to reindex my database to make
it works again.

I've dug deeper and that was indeed the case. Here's a patch which
addresses the root cause:

Glass backend freeze agenda
Hi
What is the agenda concerning the Glass backend? Any chance to have it
frozen in the next months? We love it and are in waiting position to use
it in production.

Mouse hour glass and desktop
What does it mean when your mouse hour glass pointer turns into
a skull and cross bones symbol for a few seconds and is then
followed by your desktop icons being scrambled around to
different locations. This reminds me of a bug in the old
Windows 98 SE desktop.
What would cause this? This has happened to me once before
on Fedora 3 (I think, maybe 2).

How to generate Mackey-Glass time series with "ddesolve" package?
I could use some help generating a time series for the Mackey-Glass equation: dx/dt = 0.2 x(t-tau)/(1 + x(t-tau)^10) - 0.1 x(t) for the case there tau = 17. I tried the "ddesolve" package but the dde(...) function seems to hang, not producing anything. Can someone show me the R script how to do this?

HL2 crashes, when I break some glass!
I am running wine 1.10 with the latest nVidia drivers, the 180 series.
Now, everytime I shoot at the glass, or somebody breaks it, hl2 crashes without any unusual output. Just all it does is exit. Even if I throw a grenade, and go away, it will crash when I return to the place and make it load the picture.
Any help will be appreciated!

Problem with network browsing
I'm trying to diagnose why my windows 10 clients can't do network browsing.
The network neighborhood doesn't show any of my machines running samba.
I've verified that all of my samba hosts are running nmbd!
I've reached the end of my ability to debug this, so I could really use
some help from the list to figure out why this isn't working.
I've isolated the situation

Machine accounts by migrating from smbpasswd to ldapsam
Hi all,
I'm wondering what about machine accounts (WinXP) by migrating from
Samba 2.2.8 with authentication backend /etc/smbpasswd to Samba 3.0.4
with ldapsam.
Is it possible just to take NT hash from smbpasswd and paste it to
ldap record as sambaNTPassword?
I'm not able to login from machine vs3 to new domain. My
configuration files and log files follow. The Samba-SID is the same

Xapian 1.4.0 released
I have installed the new Xapian 1.4.0 , during the installation, I
haven't seen any problems, however, when I execute commands quest and
delve I get different versions, and my Perl-based searches return
Exception: Couldn't detect type of database ... and what are these
glass things in the index directories? There is a no new version of
Perl Search::Xapian.

Server is not a class with mongrel
Hello...
I am trying to switch to mongrel from webrick to get rid of the . puppetmaster is FreeBSD 6.2 with ruby, puppet, and mongrel all from ports (latest as of this morning). I get "Server is not a class". --verbose, --debug do not spit out any useful info.

slowdown in notmuch perf suite with xapian 1.3.5
I hadn't noticed any interactive slowdown, but when I got around to
running the notmuch performance suite, there seems to be some noticable
slowdown with the glass backend (default in Xapian 1.3.5) compared to
chert (using xapian 1.2.22)
These tests are on an older i7 with 12G of RAM and an SSD. I'm
reasonable confident they are CPU bound. One curious thing is the
increase in system time

last version of puppetd that will work with ruby 1.6.8 (RHEL3)
Hello...
What is the last version of puppet that will work with ruby version
1.6.8? I have a few RHEL 3 machines I would like to run puppetd (only
the client, not puppetmaster). They will be updated to RHEL 5 fairly
soon, so I don''t want to spend a lot of time trying to get a more recent
version of ruby on them.
thanks
