Is the machine your configuring permissions on joined to the domain that samba is using? That's the last of my advice/querying ability, since DNS is on a proper server (and I assume pointed to the right address on the client as well) On Apr 21, 2016 11:00 PM, "Stefan Fuhrmann" <stefan at fuhrmann.homedns.org> wrote: > Hallo Luke, > > > okay, I attached the

migrate profile from an old server to a new one - SID and ntuser.dat problem
Hi, my problem is the following: i am trying to replace an old SUSE 8.2, Samba 2.2 domain controller with a SUSE 9.3 system with samba 3.0 as PDC. Everything works fine, i can join the new domain, i replaced the machine and domain sid from the new server with the old ones. But how can reuse the profiles from the old machine at the new one? How to change SID in ntuser.dat?
Hello, i try to migrate user/groups from NT4 PDC to Samba3 with LDAP backend. There is already an NIS-Server with Samba runing, so there exists two userlists. I migrated the user/ groups from windows via net rpc vampire and added/changed the UID?s from the NIS-Server but didn?t change the SID. A teammate told me, there could be some access problems, if i don?t change the SID. So i tried to change

Help with fixing users and groups with the same SID in LDAP
Hi - I am working through the migration from samba3+ldap to samba4 ads and discovered some inconsistencies in our data in the process. We have several user/group pairs that have the same SID because somehow uidNumber and gidNumber were set to the same number. Obviously this must be corrected for us to use the migration tool - I am just a little unsure of how best to fix this. My first

We don't see any attachments... Can you post it somewhere, then include a link? As for the SID errors, what are you using for the DNS server? Samba 4 and Windows 10 Problem.
Samba3 and samba4 are quite different. Try in your smb.conf [public] comment = public path = /path/to/public read only = No Then start computer management as administrator from a windows client. Conect to your samba4 server and choose the share (ex: public) and set the rights for "everyone". EDV Daniel Müller Leitung EDV Tropenklinik Paul-Lechler-Krankenhaus

Normally the pam modules and nss libs are there, you need manually copy that to /lib/security (Debian system. maybe different in your distribution) Also remember to run ldconfig after copy the files to the lib directory. Make sure that you /etc/pam.d/login is, some like that: passwd: winbind files shadow: files group:

Hello G?tz, grep yourself ldapadmin to administrate samba3 http://ldapadmin.sourceforge.net. What means to a certain point? You must add the machines on your centosbox to samba/ldap with the smbldap-tools (This never worked with my version). I did it with ldapadmin. using the DC as a file Server in AD
You'll get problems with file permissions. I've learned that you won't be able to just give a user access to a file without also giving him read access to every folder, down from the root of the share, that the file is located in. Example: You can't give accounting access to \\samba\IT\management\budget.ods without also giving them rights to \\samba\IT and \\samba\IT\management.
