Give users Power user access level to local machines.
OK I have searched high and low and have not found anything that works. We are running a software program which requires the user to have Power User access level on the local machine. The machines are Win2K sp3 and they are logging into a ADC which is Red Hat 9 (Shrike) and Samba Version 2.2.7a-security-rollup-fix. I have been able to setup the ADC and all users have "User" level access

Mapping Linux Shares To Windows
Hello, I have managed to install Samba V. 2.5 on a Red Hat Linux 8.0 box and my Windows clients can see the shares and read/write appropriately. How do i map these shares so that they appear as e.g. Drive F: or Drive Z: under Windows Explorer. In a Win2K network , i understand that we have to write logon scripts and use the net command. But this network ( which consists of 1 linux box and 3

(I'm merely trying to configure and get familiar with Samba before putting it on our mail server.) I have successfully gotten Samba to work as a domain controller using roaming profiles. I would like to make a drive in My Computer appear as

adding machines to the domain with Samba 3.0.0
Is there something special I need to do to let root add computers to the domain in 3.0? When I try to add the workstation I get an error about 'user not found' even though I can logon to a workstation joined to the domain as 'root'. I was able to add computers to the domain with 2.2.8 with an 'add user command' entry and 'domain admin group = root' in my

smaba 3.0 - domain groups : OS info
I dont think its a OS problem, Im using suse 8.1. If you log into the windows box as root you can see the groups and the users in the groups. Any other user including domain admins can not. This would indicate that there is a problem with samba, either with ACLs accessing group information or passing group/user information from the system to a smbd process owned by a user other than root.

I need a document that will walk me (a Samba newbie) through a setup of samba and winbind in a mixed unix/linux/win2k environment. I am also looking for a linux/unix equivalent to 'network neighborhood' on Windows systems for some of my users.
