Samba 3.0 and XP roaming profiles
Hello friends,
I am running Samba 3.0 on RHEL4 server. Around 200 roaming profiles are also
configured and they login to XP machines. Things are working for us except
in network rollout scenarios. We dont know how to roll out patches or some
global changes to all the profiles. We have to visit each and every profile
(loggin each of them) to do even the small changes. Today we have to map a

roaming profiles unknown issue
when I try to log on in my samba+ldap pdc sometimes Xp tells me that it
doesn't find "the network path to the profile" but I can see all the
shares including my profiles if I browse it after loggin in. The
drawback is that I can login but my profile isn't updated.
Is this a common issue, do you have any advices?
Thanks

[Samba 3.0.10] Trouble with roaming profiles: win XP clients 'network name not found'
Hi all!
I have a problem and I can't seem to figure out what is causing it.
Because of this I think it's important to tell the whole story...
One of my clients has a small office network, where these used to be a
Samba 2.x.x server using smbpasswd acting as PDC. A few month ago I
installed a new server with samba 3.0.9 (now upgraded to 3.0.10) and
OpenLDAP for authentication (as

local admin rights for roaming profiles
Hi.
I have a samba server designed to PDC on my network. The roaming
profiles is enabled and work fine. But some apps used from the samba
server share, apparently need to the user in the station have admin
privileges. Im enabling in the station (XP or Win7) the admin
privileges to the station asigned user (DOMAIN\user) but in that case,
the roaming profile is not a complete solution, because

Groups "Domain Admins" and "ntadmin"
Hello,
I need some understanding about when being as user in a domain group
and log on to a windows machine as user that belongs to this group
having administrative rights. I will explain in more detail and give
some more information:
# net getlocalsid
> SID for domain FILESERVER is: S-1-5-21-4166838278-3543217259-2095403906
# net getlocalsid <domain>

Possibly a security flaw...
A summary of my problem,
I had wrong UIDs for a user (eg pmal) between the /etc/passwd file and the
smbpasswd file.
When I was trying to loggin from a couple of machines running either win nt
or win 98 I was reading in the log files that the loggin could not be
completed because the UID were wrong but there were instances were I could
loggin from another computer with the same username.
I really

W2K SP4, Samba 3.0.0beta2 and Profiles
Hello,
now I still have a problem with my Samba installation. Userprofiles don't work under W2K SP4. They work fine with Windows NT 4. When loggin on for the first time the user profile directory is created. After loggin off however no data is written to the profile directory on the Samba PDC.
My smb.conf looks like this:

Roaming Profiles only for Admin?
Hi all,
I am currently fighting with roaming user profiles which shall be
stored on an Ubuntu 8.04 Xeon (64 bit) box. I'm running the stock
Ubuntu packages (version 3.0.28a-1ubuntu4.4). The Ubuntu box runs as
PDC with a LDAP backend.
Adding a Win 2000 SP4 workstation to the domain works flawlessly. If I
log on on the workstation with a root-like account (UNIX user id 0,

Roaming Profiles:Samba PDC:WinXP:User must be local admin
I'm having a problem with Roaming profiles in Windows XP with Samba as PDC.
I've googled and trolled the mailing lists and read the Samba documentation.
Problem:
User logs onto domain from WinXP client and profile is downloaded (you can
tell because it takes a long time and lights on hub are lit up). However,
unless that user is in the admin group locally, all/some of the profile

I'm Nicol?s from Uruguay, I work in ASSE (public health services), the
