samba 2.2.7a and multiple logins...
Hello
I use a new samba server with LDAP support as PDC for some Windows2000
and WindowsXP machines.
All is working nice. The useer can login with a user/password in the
domain, we have remote profiles, the user can access the samba shares
and print etc.
But after some time (< 1 day) we get a smbstatus output like the
attached file. Users are connected multiple times with the same share

CreateFile for EXE images vs other files
This question isn't directly Samba related, but Samba has helped me figure out part of the problem. When I CreateFile on an existing file like so:
CreateFile(FileName, GENERIC_READ, FILE_SHARE_READ | FILE_SHARE_DELETE, NULL, OPEN_EXISTING, FILE_ATTRIBUTE_NORMAL, NULL);
Samba shows that I have the file opened with this type of lock

Win2k, Domain logon, permissions
I first asked this question at the end of October, got a response which
didn't solve the problem, and have finally got back to the issue now.
I'm running 2.2.7a, recently upgraded from 2.2.0 as Domain Logons for
Win2K were suspected to be part of my problem. Anyway, the issue
relates to AutoCAD (actually a vertical product called Land3) and a
command which works with winXX boxes, but

strang locking behaviour with macosx clients
I'm running a samba pdc on my gentoo box in a mixed environment with a
couple of Windows XP clients and only a few MacOSX clients. The users
told me, the file locking across the platforms does not work properly
sometimes.
I tried to google my problem, but without luck. I switched all the flags
related the lock mechanism of samba on and off, but the problem seems to
be solved yet.

smbstatus show open files when none are
I recently (a few weeks ago) installed 1.9.18p8 in order
to get better performance with an Access Database, which along
with adding a TCP_NODELAY in the [global] section has that
working like a charm. Thing that's bugging me now is smbstatus.
When I run it I see open files listed when I know that they aren't.
The following output shows quite a few files open that aren't
really. The

Binary filenames in smbstatus output? (Samba 2.2.5)
Have any of you seen behavior like this before? We are currently having
problems with our Samba server coming up telling a lot of our users that
Word files "are locked for editing." and will only let users open them Read
Only.
We are running Samba 2.2.5 from standard RedHat 7.2 RPMS, on i386 RedHat
7.2, Kernel 2.4.9-34smp. Im putting this to the list as a symptom to see if

Hi,
I updated from Samba 2.2.5 to 2.2.8a. und Redhat 6.2
and since then, smbstatus shows strange values
The dates and the pid's are wrong.
Any ideas?
Was there a change in a locking.tdb?
Do I have to remove it?
Greetings

Hello! Sorry if already discussed, but I can't find.
I have two shares pointing to one directory on server. One of this ([share]) shares in read only. If I open file on this share it appears in smbstatus -L output like

Hello,
I have manually mounted the SYSVOL share, sync it with samba and run
samba-tool ntacl sysvolreset.
But I'm not sure if all windows policies are acceptable by samba because of

(Samba 3.0.21c / kernel 2.4.27 / Debian Sarge)
Hello,
One of my user open a file (located on a SAMBA server) in its
application, and when he tries to save it, he gets a "share violation"
error. (other people have this problem too).
This error happens since I upgraded the SAMBA server from 3.0.14a to

Disabling locking for DLL files
Hi all,
I'm trying to run a program off a network drive, however it insists on
locking the DLL files it loads, so that no other process can access
them (even read-only.) This means that only one person can run the
program at a time, as opposed to the entire office running it at the
same time.
It looks like the option "share modes = no" will solve this, but before
enabling it for

Powerpoint file locking issue
Hello,
We've been seeing a problem with Samba server 3.0.33-0.17 handling lock

Windows XP and Windows Vista.
If a user opens an existing file, smbstatus looks like this:
