smbclient \\\\\jhammer6\\test
and then can give commands like print file
There must many other things you can do interactively, but I just don't
know.
Or,
from the command line:
cat file | smbclient \\\\\jhammer6\\test -c 'print -'
The most important thing to understand about these bash script filters is
that they allow you

Removing ALL security from samba. :)
Hi,
I've got samba running on multiple machines, blah blah works great...
On my new fax server (RH7.2) I want any windows user to be able to connect
using any username/password. I got it to work with the nobody/pc guest
accounts, but that defeats the purpose (I need to see their windows/default
username).
Basically you connect to the fake samba shared printer, and the script mails
a URL

can someone PLEASE tell me how to mount a share with all stuff world
Ok, on local machine, everyone can do anything they want in /share and all
it's files/subdirs
On remote machine, everyone can do whatever they want on /share, but no one
can do ANYTHING in it's subdirs.

For some reason, I can not change any of my shares! I just started trying to configure samba yesterday.
Here is what I have: (2) Windows 98 SE Systems

The username on the Windows machines is "Name" and I want to be able to access a few shares on the Samba machine.
So I started configuring

Remote machines seen as UNKNOWN
Hello,
I have two machines (Samba under Linux, and Win98) that try to connect
to another samba machine. They are all two seen as UNKNOWN
machines. With the Linux one, I am correctly authenticated, but with
the Win98, Connections are rejected.
Here is a level 3 log file (It's a bit long, sorry). As you can see,
there is an ERRNO = Connection reset by peer
Thanks.

smbmount won't work for normal user
Can't mount share on my linux boxes as a regular user.
I have no trouble mounting shares as root.
This problem occurs on both my linux boxes.
All the commands I show I have run as a regular user.
Here is all the data I have:
smbmount \\\\JHAMMER6\\public /mnt/NetWork/JHAMMER6/public/ -o debug=6
mount.smbfs started (version 2.0.7)

Permission problem in message command with guest ftp user
I haven't seen this posted so I will add one more reason why the message
command may not work: Permissions.
I have this in my [global]:
message command = /bin/bash -c 'cat %s | mutt -s You_logged_on jlh;rm %s' &
This never would work and I never could figure out why.
Turns out that I have guest user ftp, who for security reasons doesn't have
much in the way of write

Mistake in German Error message for friedman.test
There are two misspellings in the german Error message for friedman test:
Fehler in friedman.test.default(cont$score, group = cont$goup, blocks = cont$cont) :
y, Gruppen und blöcke müssen die sekbe Länge haben
The correct spelling would be:
Fehler in friedman.test.default(cont$score, group = cont$goup, blocks = cont$cont) :
y, Gruppen und *Blöcke* müssen die *selbe* Länge haben

Slow performance with Win95 client
Hi
I am new to this list, but I have been having problems with samba for some
time now. Here is the problem When my Win95 clients access the samba
server I get real slow transfers, even if I only have one client accessing
the server. It transfers at like 70k/s to 150k/s, and the collision
lights on the hub start going crazy. even for 10 megabit networking, this
is rather slow. (it takes like 3

[LLVMdev] rpath'd binaries
Hello!
I noticed that the binaries of all llvm tools contain an rpath to
$OBJDIR/Release/bin. I just only learned about rpaths, but the
way I understand them this would only make sense if that path
would contain shared libraries, which it doesn't. Especially it
makes no sense if I install the binaries and delete the build
directory (where it potentially even leaves a security issue
behind).

which sftp protocol is openssh or sftp-server using or support?
Hi,
After reading the source code of openssh and man page of sftp.

Anyone have same or similar problem? and how do I prevent this problem
from happening again? I would appreciate any help.
Thanks.
