Rejoining domain after cluster failover
Hello. We're having issues running Samba 2.2.8-a1, on Solaris 8 (SPARC) under Veritas VCS 3.5 clustering (HA active-passive).
Every time we have a cluster failover (we're testing), we have to re-join the domain [ADS not NT] (e.g., 'smbpasswd -j XYZ -r XYZPDC -UAdminRightsUser%password'). Otherwise, we cannot connect to the shares, and 'wbinfo -t' returns 'Secret is

Dovecot pgsqlauthentication database reconnection/failover problem
Hi,
Our mail system uses dovecot-1.0-1.2.rc15.el5 in Centos-5.1 as our imap
server. It connects to a pgsql database in another server as authentication
backend. It works fine except occasionally fails to reconnect to the database
after temporary network block, and dovecot has to be restarted to work again
in such case. Since I can't find any specific setting in dovecot.conf to

no failover with failover MDS
Hi all,
we have two servers A, B as a failover MGS/MDT pair, with IPs
A=10.12.112.28 and B=10.12.115.120 over tcp.
When server B crashes, MGS and MDT are mounted on A. Recovery times out
with only one out of 445 clients recovered.
Afterwards, the MDT lists all its OSTs as UP and in the logs of the OSTs
I see:
Lustre: MGC10.12.112.28 at tcp: Connection restored to service MGS using

gpfs + sernet samba + ctdb + transparent failover confusion
Hi all,
We're running gpfs 3.5.0.12 (5 total nsds & quorum servers, 2 nsds running
samba), sernet-samba 4.1.4-7, and ctdb 1.0.114.7-1 and trying to get
transparent failover to work from a windows 8 client. We have ctdb failover
working, i.e. if I run mmshutdown on one of the nodes the IPs failover in a
few seconds after the GPFS mount is unmounted. For our transparent failover
test, I

secret.tdb copied from server to server
Hello there,
We have Samba 3.0.2a installed on two solaris 8 servers in a failover cluster
(using Veritas Cluster Server). We're using it for windows and unix print
servers.
Right now, we have one server with one netbios name advertised (printserver1)
and the other with a netbios name of printserver2. Both have been joined to our
windows NT 4.0 domain.
We have an interface that fails

HA firewall with tinc
This is a vpn for Disater Recovery sites, so it is not necessary to have a seamless failover, strictly speaking. Encryption instead is mandatory.
Testing we found that on Keepalived failover remote Tinc take few seconds to reset the connection and correctly re-connect to the new active firewall (probably new firewall resetting the connection + PingTimeout + some seconds to reconnect).
This is

upgrade from 1.x to 3.0.0.4 : veritas backup exec cannot connect
I figured out a previous issue to allow you to connect veritas BE to a
samba system. You basically just defind a c$ share, and it was happy
(Veritas BE version 8.5 Rev 3572)
Now, I cannot get the user defined share to connect for the life of me
anymore. The backup user can connect using windows shares, but within
the application, I'm out of luck.
It keeps asking for a username/password

HA firewall with tinc
This is what I want to avoid :D I want an active Tinc virtual interface active with ip identical of the other firewall, without ip conflict on the same network.
Do you know if Tun type virtual interface on one host can have same ip address of another host in the same network without ip conflict ? ie if a tun virtual interface can work active without transmitting on real network ? or if such a

Samba 3.0.13 problems with NT4 domain
Hi,
I have tried upgrading to Samba-3.0.13 and we are having problems.
When Samba is started it reports that it has joined the domain successfully.
Although wbinfo -u and wbinfo -g returns user and group information when a
user tries to connect to the share they are just presented with a logon
dialogue box and the share is inaccessible.
The logs in /usr/local/samba/var have the

What will happen if the source will kick the icecast server
Let me see if I got this right: every <master-update-interval> seconds the
sources are verified and if a source is disconnected, icecast will try to
reconnect.
And another thing: if i don't use a master/slave architecture, can i uncomment
only <master-update-interval> and modify its value (to affect the relay
sources) ?
Thank you.

ctdb failover interrupts Windows file copy
Hello,
We have setup ctdb+Samba v 4.11.1 and testing with Windows client and
failover works mostly ok. However when using regular Windows file copy,
the copy operation is interrupted during ip takeover.
Is there any solution to make the failover transparent to Windows file
copy ?
I understand that SMB2 durable handles should not be used in a clustered
setup, and SMB3 persistent handles +

Problems drawing a colored 'rug' in the Lattice 'densityplot'
Hi All,
I'm trying to add a 'rug' representation of my data to a plot created
with densityplot(). While I can do this in the simple case, I can't do
it properly when I include the "groups" argument. I have an example
below. I am running a reasonably new version of R.

How do I add a rug to a 3d 'persp' plot?
Hi all,
I have a (hopefully quick) question. I've got a fascinating set of fitted
surfaces in three dimensions corresponding to local linear multiple
regressions. I'd like to add rugs to the X and Y axes (corresponding to my
independent variables) in order to get a sense for how many data points I'm
working with to graph various portions of the surfaces. The trouble is, I
can't
