Shares not accessible when using FQDN
Hi,
Time is OK
I found some more informations: it seems the problem appears when I use an alias (DNS and netbios alias). So it is working for principal names (moe, in this case). Maybe it si not related but the setup is still in 2003 mode?
CLUSTER is and alias of MOE (in the config and also in DNS servers => CNAME (resolution is OK)). And accessing to the shares using \\cluster is not

Shares not accessible when using FQDN
Hai,
Without (smb.conf) config, no, sorry, no ideas..
And educated guess, you have errors in you DNS resolving.
Whats the OS running?
Cat /etc/hosts
Cat /etc/resolv.conf
Cat /etc/smb.conf
On the windows pc. open dosbos,
ipconfig /all
Things like that, suprisly, really help us out in helping you. ;-)

new samba install
we have been trying to move our samba box to a faster server, with better
NICs, faster processor and more memory.
both the old and new server are using samba 3.0.14A
both on debian based distributions (old was sarge, new is breezy)
here are the steps we followed:
install samba from the apt archives.
confermed that they were the same version.
copied smb.conf from old server to new server.

Shares not accessible when using FQDN
Hi guys,
Thank you for your answer. Meanwhile I have new informations, the problem also happen on a workstation in the domain.
This should not be a DNS issue. I validated that and I can authenticate and list shares. Just cannot enter into them when i'm using the FQDN o_O
Note : It works well on Linux clients.
Here is the Samba config file :
Thank you !

And for i forget to mention.
Did you check if the time is in sync? ( sorry must ask )

samba + kerberos + active directory with multiple domains
I've almost got this thing working. I have it set up on a centos machine to authenticate logins and automounts to windows file servers. But it won't allow me to specify a domain as part of the userid. I can set a default domain in smb.conf and logging into that domain works like a champ. And I can list the other domains with "wbinfo --online-status" (not sure what

Minimal configuration for Name Service
Hi,
In my company we have a new requirement that say when our device has disks,
it should run smbd and nmbd to serve files and name services (as it always
has been done). However, when all disks are removed, we still need nmbd to
answer its own netbios name - any other name resolution is completely
optional, though.
My question is, regardless or security mode (workgroup/AD), what would be

Cannot delete (empty) folder from Mac client
Hello.
A Mac client of mine has a problem deleting an empty folder from the
root of a Samba 4.12 server share, reporting a permission issue;
however, the more I look at it, the more I am convinced it should be
able to delete it.
