Does the newest version support Mulitibyte NETBIOS name?
Dear Sir, I remember that I can use multibyte NETBIOS name (just as Traditional Chinese) in Microsoft Windows to talk with the previous version of samba (maybe 2.0.7). But since I use 2.2.3a (which is included in RedHat 7.3), the log file name is incorrect when the client use multibyte NETBIOS name. And when I use the newest version (2.2.6), if the client use multibyte NETBIOS name, then the

winbind + groups hogs CPU
I've been using winbind successfully for awhile now for user info (nothing in /etc/passwd), but today I tried to use it to pull group info, so I updated /etc/nsswitch.conf (RH 7.3) and then tried to add: valid users = @DOMAIN+group_name and now whenever I click on any folder (share) to open the cpu util goes up, and the connection hangs for awhile, and then eventually it times-out on the

Help needed with NFS issue
I have four NFS servers running on Dell hardware (PE2900) under CentOS 5.7, x86_64. The number of NFS clients is about 170. A few days ago, one of the four, with no apparent changes, stopped responding to NFS requests for two minutes every half an hour (approx). Let's call this "the hang". It has been doing this for four days now. There are no log messages of any kind pertaining

Complexity vs BitRate
Jean-Marc and others, We are using Speex inside our Video Conferencing application and have some questions about the trade-off of complexity vs bitrate. A little background information is needed: 1. For us the actual bit-rate isn't that big a deal. Speex running at 14kbps or 8 kbps is minor compared to the video traffic running at 128, 256 or 384 kbps. 2. We care a little about

[LLVMdev] Experimental Evaluation of the Schedulers in LLVM 3.3
I should note here that although SPEC provided us with a sufficiently large sample for our spill-count experiment, I don't think that SPEC has enough hot functions with spills to make our execution-time results statistically significant. That's because SPEC has many benchmarks with peaky profiles, where one of two functions dominate the execution time. So, if one heuristic gets very

Compression of largish expression array files in the DAAGbio/inst/doc directory?
The inst/doc directory of the DAAG package has 6 files coral551.spot, ... that are around 0.85 MB each. It would be useful to be able to zip then, but that as matters stand interferes with the use of the Sweave file that uses them to demonstrate input of expression array data that is in the "spot" format. They do not automatically get unzipped when required. I have checked that

RE: Largish filesystems [was Re: XFS install issue]
To start I wish to that you for the swift response on this issue. I do not think that I would get such a quick response from a proprietary (closed-source) company. Open Source :-). To respond to one the comments about large file systems ?recommend you split it in several smaller (2-4TB) filesystems ? This is not feasible in many situations. In some situations 2-4TB is not even a reasonable
