The only thing I know is that tdb files are Trivial DataBase files. So it's a database used by samba to persistently store stuff. The file I was refering to accidentally had "winbind" and "id" in its name, so I just deleted it to see what it gives. Seems I made the right choice. I have no idea how to view these files though. Hi; We've recently upgraded from Samba 1.7 to Samba 2.2.8 and we're using Samba to allow our users to connect to their Unix home directories from their PC's. Under 1.7 users were able to connect by mapping a drive from windows explorer and entering their unix username and password. Now, when we do this we get a "Incorrect password or Unknown username" error message.

Hi, I have a Linux box with 512MB RAM and running Samba 2.2.7. I noticed that memory is constantly decreasing when I typed free. If I run ps aux, I see that more and more samba sessions are opened, some by root and some by users. Is this normal? Won't Samba close unused sessions before opening new sessions?
