Several logon script bat files?
I simply wonder if I can have several different logon script bat files for
MS Win users that validates through my Samba PDC?
Let's say that group "users" should have logon batch users.bat and the
members of the group "sales" should have both users.bat and sales.bat
executed at logon? Or can I in some way use ONE script with parameters that
knows about what groups the user

Hi - I posted this to the NT list but have had no responses so far...
not sure if it's more appropriate here anyway - hopefully someone can
give me some direction with this problem...
I've been trying to set up a server to act as a roaming profiles /
file server for a bunch of NT 4.0 machines and some 98 machines, and
am having two issues, one I'm reasonably sure is an NT

Throughput problem with Samba 3.3.4 over VPN
Hi,
I am currently in the process of improving performance for a Samba 3.3.4
server on FreeBSD 7.0. The samba server works great when mounted from
another machine located on the same network but when I try to use it
over our corporate VPN (OpenVPN with tap interface) the throughput won't
go over 4,5 Mbps. The ping between the samba client and the server is
around 20ms. I have used a linux

netlogon.bat issues
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----
Hash: SHA1
I have samba configured so that users have their own netlogon.bat file
(e.g. %U.bat) and each user has a .bat with their username in the
netlogon share.
So far I have been unable to get any of the shares that I have defined
in the batch file to be mounted when a user logs in. Here is a snapshot
of both the netlogon section of my smb.conf file and

root prexec/postexec & login scripts
I have a perl script that I'd like to use to create windows 9x login
scripts at login time but I cannot get the process to work right. I have
RedHat 7.3 (actually the k12ltsp v2.1.0 which is a modified RH7.3) set
up as a domain controller which is working well. Manually created login
scripts run fine on the workstations at login. I'm using a netlogon

Renamed Samba Domain, now machine accounts fail
Hello Everyone,
Situation:
I have been testing Samba-3.07 for its NT4 domain functionality so that
I can migrate from Samba-2.2. I had setup the Samba domain and
everything was working quite well. I had initially been working with a
domain called "TEST". Now that I am finished with my initial testing, I
wanted to rename the domain to something I would be able to keep. After

Logon.bat with samba
Hello,
I've tried to make out of my samba 2.0.3 server a logon server.
I' ve set
domain logons = Yes
domain master = No
local master =Yes
os level = 65
preferred master =Yes
but:
wins support = No
I made a share as recommended [netlogon] and place there a logon.bat.
The logon.bat contains
net use z: \\servername\public
for testing if the logon.bat is excecuted by login to the server.

Samba Upgrade Yields Undesired Domain-Wide IE High Security
Forgive the repost, but I've changed the subject line since I
haven't seen a reply yet...please help, I don't have much hair
left!
Hello All,
I had been successfully running Samba 2.2.8a on a FreeBSD 4.7
box for a couple years using roaming profiles. The box was
functioning as PDC. The hardware was getting old; I needed to
migrate to a new server. So, I built a FreeBSD 5.3-RELEASE

Samba processes domain authenticated user as nobody during logon. bat execution
Beating head on desk again!
I have a samba server is running winbind which can access domain. It is
working fine and is using domain credentials. I access the samba shares
after the user has authenticated against a novell server during the novell
logon script. The shares are authenticated with user domain credentials and
verified with smbstatus. This works great!
If I alternatively use windows

logon.bat and home dir
I recently set up a samba PDC 2.2.8 for testing purposes only.
Everything runs well enough now.
There is one thing I can't seem to get to work. I made a logon.bat logon
script for sharing a share called 'databank' on T: and it works
correctly, but trying to get the windows mount the home folder too
results in no mounting. That is: no databank and no home folder (on T:
and Y:).

Problem with netlogon\logon.bat not mapping all drives
Hi all,
I was wondering if anyone could help me, I have searched for some reason but
cannot find any.
After migrating from a previous samba-3.0.10 (I think) PDC server to a newer
samba-3.0.23c server on Centos5, I have the strange problem that my XP
clients no longer map all the drives listed in the logon.bat during logon,
however if I run logon.bat manually after I'm logged in, all

Samba PDC and logon.bat questions
Hello,
For some time now I have thought that Samba was a piece of cake to setup and
thought making it a PDC and WINS server to boot, would not be much harder.
Haha, I am finding out I was very wrong.
First question:
Since logon.bat is being processed by a windows client machine that has no
idea what to do with Samba variables, how do you avoid having to create a
separate logon script

Using logon.bat files in samba ad-dc
Hi, all.
I know that the Samba people do *not* advise using shares in the ad, but,
in the current circumstances, this will have to be done. At least until
there is another technical-administrative context.
In the very old previous installation (Suse 42, samba 4.4.2), using
openLdap, I used logon.bat scripts to map Samba shares to windows client
devices ("net use K: \\mydomain\cj /persistent

Samba PDC and Windows XP not executing logon.bat
I have spent most of the past 24 hours reading various samba docs and
searching google for help -- but can't find a solution. Suggestions and solutions
would be appreciated.
I have set up a Linux Box (Samba 3.02) as a PDC with roaming profiles. (I
haven't upgraded, because this box is a model for over 100 other boxes in the
field). I can add XP users to the domain and their roaming

Fwd: RE: Group logon Scripts
I have a similar situation and have assigned all users to varying primary groups. It
works OK but could be better. I am including an e-mail from the samba list that improves
on my login/out scripts. I have not had a chance to try the improvements yet. Good
luck.

logon.bat: switching from smbpasswd to tdbsam
Hey,
I have a fedora core 1 machine with samba 3 PDC. I switched the password backend ('passdb' ) from 'smbpasswd' to 'tdbsam'. The problem is that my win 98 machine stop mapping my home directory. I swtiched back to 'smbpasswd' and it works fine. 'net time \\server /set /yes' and 'net use p: \\server\apps' work perfectly.
My logon.bat contains the

logon.bat
Hi,
we have the following problem:
we use a samba 2.03 server as PDC and logon server. Every user executes
its logon.bat. With 'net use' we map some drives and that's all ok. but
we would like to set the PATH Environment-Variable and this is our
problem. If we would set it with 'SET PATH=...' only the PATH in this
DOS-Box will be changed, but we need the global PATH changed.
