Server 2008 and Samba 3.0.25b
Hi Folks - I'm experiencing a very strange problem with Server 2008 machines (for all intents and purposes related to Samba, it's Vista) connecting to a Samba Server. The Samba machine is a RHEL4.6 machine running Samba 3.0.25b. I am joined to the mixed mode AD domain via the command "net rpc join -U administrator <domain>". I am not using winbind or kerberos. Or

failmode= continue prevents zpool processes from hanging and being unkillable?

rsync bugs
I may be nuts, but... I would appear that rsync is not setting the exit code properly when it fails. Below are 2 cases where that seems obvious, the line with the '0' after the output is 'echo $?' from bash -- aka the exit code for the last command. Let me know if these are bugs, or I need to somehow get around these situations. Nic >>> starting rsync with

Oddities
I've just started digging into an odd problem. I hope this is the right forum, if not, please point me to the correct one. Trying to summarize a bit: We're running Samba 2.0.0 on a solaris 2.6 server. There are 3 users, A, B and C. User A, the admin, can log in just fine and poke all around the samba shares she has access to. User B, normal user, can't connect, gets denied

Password caching and smbsh
First off, I don't know if this is password caching revisited with a vengeance or what. It's very inconsistent for the amount of time the share will stay mounted. I *think* the following are the relevant messagess in the log: Jun 23 22:24:36 reliant kernel: smb_trans2_request: result=-32, setting invalid Jun 23 22:24:36 reliant kernel: smb_retry: caught signal And of course, I get the

NT-to-Linux printing stopped working...
Printing seems like a popular subject here lately. ;) I have an Epson Stylus Color IIs which I had connected to my Linux box. It was mapped on my NT box, and everything worked fairly well (except for the print quality--NT drivers for that printer suck). So, I bought a new printer--an Epson Stylus Color 740. I hooked it up to Linux, made the necessary changes to /etc/printcap, and printed some

"Parameter is incorrect"
I set up a new printer on my Linux box, an Epson Stylus Color 740. I had previously been using an EPson Stylus Color IIs. I got the printer working nicely in Linux, but I can not print to the printers I set up in /etc/printcap via samba from NT anymore. I.e., it worked with the IIs, but not with the 740. I didn't change anything in smb.conf. NT lets me install the printers via samba, but

NUT on Raspberry PI 3b+
I was able to make NUT and my Powercom SPIDER UPS (USB port) work under the Raspberry Pi Desktop (Debian). Everything works in VMware Workstation 15 Player. But my Raspberry Pi 3b + (with raspbian) doesn’t work with the same UPS, and with same NUT configuration. Raspberry sees the UPS, but the driver does not cling. Here is the response of Raspberry 3b + to some commands. pi at raspberrypi:~

Raspberry PI 3B+ with Ubuntu Mate and NUT
I installed the NUT under the latest Ubuntu Mate for Raspberry. The driver immediately earned with my UPS (Powercom SPD-850U). But my happiness was not long. After the first restart of Raspberry, the NUT did not start. It is treated by reconnecting the USB connector. Reconnection has to be performed after each reboot of Raspberry. The USB permissions for the "nut" group and priority

WinXP PDC logon problem...
Hi all, I've seen this raised as an issue on other mailing lists, but I've not seen a solution, and I've seen a number of notes to post to this alias instead, so here I am. I've setup Samba as a PDC running on Solaris. I have a WinXP (latest patch levels) PC which I want to join to the domain. I can successfully join the domain using root authentication, but I am unable to logon
