lprm command not getting called.
I have configured Samba on both a RH Linux 7.2 box and Solaris 8 box and am
not able to remove print jobs. The lprm command is not getting called. I
know that for a fact because I changed lprm command to equal a script which
will log when it is called. And that script is never called. There are no
errors in any log files - system or samba.
The printing parts of the smb.conf file are:

Printing - "lprm command" not getting executed
I am attempting to get printing services for Windows 2000 clients working
with Samba on a Red Hat 7.2 box. The problem is I can not cancel print jobs
(either from a PC or the local smb client). File sharing, and printing
other than this problem, work fine.
Here is a listing of configuration and system info: 1) the samba packages
installed, 2) output of "uname -a", 3) the

Windows client refuses multiple print copies when printing to samba printer
Hello
I have got the following problem:
My Samba printer doesn't allow multiple copies, when trying to print from a
client machine. (Unix printing works fine with multple copies). When I enter
more than one copy into the "number of copies" field on a WinXP client
machine, I get the error message "This printer cannot print the specified
amount of copies. The amount of copies is

Printer Problems (Access Denied)
I've seen this issue asked about and asked about in the archives,
unfortunately I can't seem to find a real solution only people's theories.
The issue involves a 2.2.5 Samba server acting as a member print server in
a Windows 2000 domain.
I can add printers from the server to clients in the domain and then
print. The issue comes when I try and view/manage the print queue from
Windows.

Samba & LPRng: Printer Status in Windows
I know this question has been answered here a while back, but I have not been able to find the mailing with the posts on it.
-----==========-----
I have a redhat server that I am using as a file/print server for student use. I am using samba to help the users with Windows. The problem I have is that when using printing a user can submit a print job, and it prints fine, but cannot see the

Samba - cannot print multiple copies
Hi,
I successfully setup printing on my FreeBSD box
using Samba with apsfilter and lprng. However, I
have encountered two issues:
1) Cannot print multiple copies of documents from
my windows box (e.g. notepad). Only the first
copy is printed and the rest don't get printed.
2) My spool directory is getting filled up and
I would like the job removed after the print
job is finished
I've

Cannot pause printer
Hi
When I try to pause a printer it spits out an error that I don't have permission to pause the printer. It is pretty weird
because I'm the administrator. I've tried to add the write list=ntadmin option but that doesn't work.
Does anyone have a clue?

Bidirectional printers, LPRng, and Samba...
Does anyone have any hints or suggestions on getting some JetDirect-based
printers set up for bidirectional printing in Samba?
We're using LPRng 3.8.0, ifhp 3.4.7, and samba 2.2.2
From the LPRng standpoint, the printers seem to be set up for
bidirectional communication fine.. but how do we get Samba to allow
bidirectional communication?
Thanks in advance!

pre-/postexec in printers-section
Hi,
after updating our printserver from Samba V2.0.6 to V2.2.7 I encountered the
following problem.
Samba does not execute the (root) pre- and postexec within the printers
section.
If you are using these command in another section everything works fine.
Does anybody know if these command are not supported in the printers section
anymore?

load printers = yes

(no subject)
Following the "security = domain in Samba 2.x" document in the SWAT
documentation page I do this:
root@pc194-79:/usr/local/samba/bin# smbpasswd -j MDU -r pv-mdu-server1
-Ujohnm%xxxxxxxx
Joined domain MDU.
root@pc194-79:/usr/local/samba/bin#
This is in [globals]:
security = DOMAIN
encrypt passwords = Yes
password server = pv-mdu-server1 pv-mdu-server2
And now I start Samba via smbd

Windows 2000 Printers: "Access Denied, Unable to Connect"
Unless I make a user a member of the printer admin group in the smb.conf
file on the Linux Samba Server, on the W2K client the printer will show up
as "Access Denied, Unable to Connect". The user can still connect and print
to that printer, however. I just want to get rid of that incorrect status
message, because it will cause confusion.

Win2K sp4 can't print
Hi,
I just installed 2 Win2K sp4 workstations on an otherwise working Samba 2.2.8a
network and 2 of the 3 printers are showing "Access denied". What's up with that?
The other computers that are working just fine are Win98, XP and Win2K NOT sp4.
Here is part of the global section:

LPRng and SAMBA
First of all, thanks to everyone who has helped me out so far resolving
my samba problems!
The latest has to do with LPRng and directory permissions. LPRng
requires 0600 permissions on the spool directory, owner daemon group
daemon. Whenever a user tries to print through SAMBA, they do not have
write access to the spool directory, as teh job comes in user/group of
the person who printed. Any

Manual Printer Driver Installations
Hey,
I posted a few days ago about how the printer paper sizes are differ from
the admin account
when they are installed. People at my work are getting pissed at the moment
and all they want to do
is to be able to change the paper sizes themselves and not have it done at
the server
Is there a way to do it?
I fluked it at one stage and had it working like that, I think I deleted the

I know that maybe this is an stupid question, let me tell you a little bit:
I am using my samba server as a file server and it is ok, but also want to
use it as a printer server, I can see my installed printers in my windows
domain, I also can set up my printer in my windows client but when I try to
print something, this job goes through its spooler and then it seems to
print, but it does not

Problem with job removal
Hi,
We've been stuck with this problem for a while now and we believe I tried
enough potential solutions to justify my posting here.
We're using samba 3.0.14a in Sarge in order to allow printing from Windows
workstations (The authentication works with AD+Kerberos+Winbind) to a set of
shared printers. Printing works perfectly but we would like to allow users
to have control over the jobs
