Letter instead of A4 with driver installed via Samba's Point'n'Print
Hello everyone,
I have already asked for this the cups list/newsgroup, but it seems to me that this might be more a question about Samba. According (hopefully) to these howtos I have setup printers and prepared their cups postscript drivers to be installed automatically via Samba and the so called Point'n'Print method:

samba spool problem...
Hi all,
I just realized that the samba print spool is no longer flushing its
queue'd print jobs even after it's been printed. In other words, the
spool will eventually get full during which no jobs can be spooled and
printed anymore. I worked around the problem and inserted the -r
option to lpr for the print command in smb.conf:
/usr/local/bin/lpr -r -P%p %s
That seems to have the

Samba + Cups + Filter Access
Hi,
I'm trying to use Cups + Samba to make a print server for many
purpouses. The main one is to account how many pages where printed by
whom and centralize all printers in one server.
If I configure samba and cups in the RAW mode using windows original
drivers of the printers, everything works fine, but this way I can't use
cups accounting.
So I reinstaled all my printers

Server-side printer settings?
Hi all!
I have a situtation that I want to get happening:
We have just installed a colour photocopier with duplexing at a client's
office. We're looking to have four printers pointing at this one device,
with the following settings (one for each printer):
* Black and White
* Black and White, Duplexed
* Colour

My question is, can we have server-side settings for

cli_pipe: return critical error. Error was Call returnedzero byte (EOF), hilfe!
Hi Kurt,
I've read the new document. It's a very fine piece of
technical documentation. However, it doesn't help me
in the present predicament. Going now by this book
I'm only getting more frustrated. I'm stuck!
For example adding driver with rcpclient invariably
ends in "Segmentation fault" (Signal 11) immediately
after pop_sec_ctx, whose push counterpart was

paid-for-print
Hi there,
I'm newbie in Samba, so I beg for your excuse if my questions are
stupid.
Is it possible to use Samba as a "paid-for-print" server?
If U know something about another free "paid-for-print" software, please
let me know.
10x in advance,

pdf printer
Hi,
I created a PDFPrinter as per
http://marc.theaimsgroup.com/?l=samba&m=105301236523413&w=2
I have another question, do I need to add a Color Laser Printer Driver in
W2K to the PDF share to generate color PDF in Windows?

"Additional Drivers" and Print Window Refresh
I have RTFM'd, so excuse me if I missed something in the manual. :)
1) When I attempt to add additional drivers (the inital driver worked just
fine, when using the instructions in John's HOWTO), I get the following
error:
"The printer driver you selected is either not compatible with your
current version of Windows, or it may not be available. Select a
compatible driver from the

CUPS for KDE
CUPS for KDE, my printer does not work properly, it don't print all
pages, misses connection with usb, etc.
When I installed and configured in GNOME every thing seemed to be fine.
When entering KDE it automatically adds two printers and generally
brings the printer out of work.
I have figured out that I am missing this support according to this link:

Re: How do I force Samba to update shared printer list? (2.2.6-pre2)
Try : killall -s HUP /usr/sbin/smbd
is causes that smbd rereads its config.

Mdk 9.1, samba-LDAP 2.2.8a/3.0b3 (LDAP) can't print to z53
I've not been able to get Samba to print to a Lexmark Z53.
If I call it a Z52, the driver uploads (to where, I have no idea so I
can't check it) but I still can't get anything out of the printer.

Not "vice versa". CUPS must be up and running ("lpstat -r" must be
returning "scheduler is running").
This is precisely because of the described bug, which causes
Samba *not* to update the list of available printers

AW: rpcclient setdriver fails: WERR_INVALID_PRINTER_NAME
Hi Kurt,
You are absolutely right (as always). After restarting smb, rpcclient
setdriver works fine.
May be - in the next future release - cupsaddsmb will work.
Thank you very much.

Samba+CUPS+Driver autodownload
Hi,
I'm trying to get Samba to offer the Adobe driver automatically for the
two printers I have set up with CUPS.
I have all of the necessary files plucked out of the Adobe Postscript
Windows driver package, but I'm hitting the problem when I come to run
"cupsaddsmb -v ..." that the "rpcclient adddrivers" command always fails
with NT_STATUS_UNSUCCESSFUL. The drivers
