3.0alpha23 not authenticating with LDAP (RedHat 9) - Help needed!
Hi! I am trying to migrate to a new server, with a shiny-new installation of RedHat 9. I have downloaded the 3.0alpha23 rpm intended for RedHat 8.0... I am also using the stock RedHat 9 version of OpenLDAP. By itself, LDAP is working fine: this is how I log onto my Linux boxes. I am including one sample user (me) below, which I extracted using "ldapsearch -x". Great - this is

Continued: Join domain OK, but domain not found after reboot
Hi, all: To recap: I can successfully get my WinXP box to join the domain (WHITEROCK), but after rebooting, when I try to log on: "The system cannot log you on now because the domain WHITEROCK is not available." I get this even when using the user 'root' - and this user was the one to successfully join the domain WHITEROCK!! To rule out any stale junk, my WinXP is a

samba 3.0 as PDC and Winxp
Hi, I setup a samba 3.0alpha24-1 as PDC (simple with smbpasswd without LDAP:-( ). With Windows 2000 everything works fine (server profiles, mapping the home directory of the users as Z:/ etc.) But :-( Windows XP I could join the domain (without any trouble). But I could not login as a user. Windows XP returns domain is not accessible (die domain ist nicht verf?gbar). But when I login to the

Roaming Profile not found - replacement PDC
Howdy everyone: Here's an interesting one: I have joined a machine to the domain, and I log on. Then, I get a message to the effect that the user's roaming profile couldn't be [loaded or found?], and a local profile will be used instead (and actually this also fails, but is not the point of my question... I don't think). Background ========== I took my previous PDC, and

(PR#9910) Incomplete library linking for grDevices.so on
What compiler system is this? And what settings were used? We are not seeing such a problem on Solaris 10 (neither Sparc nor x86_64) with the Sun Studio 11 compilers they shipped with (a month or two ago). Note that the error message is not to do with subject line: it is launching R and /export/home/gordonp/Desktop/R-alpha/lib/libRlapack.so that has the problem. I don't think that

RE: [Private] RH8 and Samba 3
Gordon, I did as you suggested, and that seems to have fixed it. Thanks for the suggestion However, this is contrary to the given docs on how to use CUPS with Samba, is it not? GXP-2000 fw 1.0.1.13 and NTP
Hi all Slightly OT but I know a lot of GS experts hang out here - I just upgraded a GXP-2000 to firmware 1.0.1.13 to try out the BLF functionality with Asterisk (which so far works as expected), but as a side-effect the phone won't sync with an NTP server - I've tried different server names (time.nist.gov and pool.ntp.org) and IPs in the config, but it refuses to update the time on

Subsystem sftp invoked even though forced command created
This is a new branch of an old thread, made necessary because the email system here purges sent messages after a period of time so I can't reply to the last message in the thread. The operative portion of that last message (retrieved from the archives and dated July 3, 2023) follows: /*****/ So I set up a fresh key to use for this test, and gave it similar parameters. I wasn't aware of

State of the Breezy
What''s the current state of Rails installation on a fresh Ubuntu Breezy? I''ve just set up a laptop with a fresh installation, and tried to install ruby et al, and got nowhere fast. The default ruby is 1.8.3, and compiling the source for 1.8.4 leaves the rubygems setup.rb breaking unable to find zlib (and yes, I have checked for zlib1g-dev and readline). Is there a known

State of the gluster project
It is very unfortunate that Gluster is not maintained. From Kadalu Technologies, we are trying to set up a small team dedicated to maintain GlusterFS for the next three years. This will be only possible if we get funding from community and companies. The details about the proposal is here?https://kadalu.tech/gluster/ About Kadalu Technologies: Kadalu Technologies was started in 2019 by a few

How do I change passwords / remove users for Samba?
I've got a bit of a problem with Samba. I just can't work out how to change passwords or remove users. I've just got user security.. lines in smb.conf are: security = user passdb backend = tdbsam I've removed the user using pdbedit, I've removed the unix user, smbpasswd says the user doesn't exist yet I can still connect to the shares. WinXP and Samba PDC Auth Problem
I have been running a Samba PDC with Samba version 3.0.0 on Redhat 7.3 for quite some time. My WinXP Pro SP2 system is part of the domain and everything has been working just peachy. And then, of course, I had to tinker with it. I upgraded the linux box to Whitebox Linux 3.0, a derivative of Redhat Enterprise Linux 3.0. It comes with Samba 3.0.7. After installing and updating everything, I

PATCH: Add test for metaflac --add-replay-gain
Erik, I suspect /bin/sh being dash is what is causing the problem. I will rework the syntax. not enough virtual memory
Greetings, I have been trying to install Cool Edit Pro 1.2. I'm running Mandrake 8.1, which came with Wine release 20010731. This is a dual-boot system with MS-DOS 6.22 in addition to Mandrake 8.1. There NO version of Windoze of any kind is installed. I have 512 MB of RAM; the DOS partition has 941 MB free and 777 permissions. I mount the CD-ROM drive, cd to it, and execute wine setup.exe

DHH''s Post on Ruby Talk -- Rails 1.1.5: Mandatory security patch (and other tidbits)
We''re still hard at work on Rails 1.2, which features all the new dandy REST stuff and more, but a serious security concern has come to our attention that needed to be addressed sooner than the release of 1.2 would allow. So here''s Rails 1.1.5! This is a MANDATORY upgrade for anyone not running on a very recent edge (which isn''t affected by this). If you have a public

old master.pid prevents dovecot startup
Summary ======= After an unclean shutdown the file /var/run/dovecot/master.pid remained behind. This prevented dovecot from starting, and gave a misleading error message. To be more resilient and fault-tolerant, I recommend that dovecot also check the validity of the PID in /var/run/dovecot/master.pid in order to determine whether or not another dovecot process is running. weird error with rake create_sessions_table
Hi all, Despite switching to mod_fcgid (which has improved performance), sessions are still expiring sporadically. I thought I might try switching to storing them in the db, but I get the following error when I try to run the rake create_sessions_table command D:\User\Code\ruby\prometheus>rake create_sessions_table (in D:/User/Code/ruby/prometheus) rake aborted! undefined local variable or
