cli_pipe: return critical error. Error was Call returnedzerobyte(EOF), hilfe!
Hi Kurt,
I've read the new document. It's a very fine
piece of technical documentation. However, it
doesn't help me in the present predicament.
Going now by this book I'm only getting more
frustrated. What are your versions of Samba,
CUPS(?), OS, and Printer again?
2.2.8a, 1.1.18, SuSE 8.2 w/2.4.20-62, Lexmark C720
I'm stuck!

Samba 2.2.8 SEGV in rpcclient getdriver on Solaris 7
Hello
I was trying to figure out how to add printer drivers manually for
downloading to Windows 2000 clients and I came accross this problem.
(The printer drivers were installed some time ago using an earlier
version of samba 2.2.x).
$ dbx /usr/local/samba/bin/rpcclient
(dbx) run xxxxxxx -U yyyyyyy
Running: rpcclient xxxxxxx -U yyyyyyy

Adding printer driver with cupsaddsmb
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----
Hash: SHA1
Hi list,
I have a problem adding printer drivers for automatic downloading via
samba for windows 2000 clients.
Under cups I added my printer and copied the Adobe postscript driver
files like mentioned in printer_driver2.html. And when I finally
commit:
cupsaddsmb -v -U root normal (normal is the name of the printer)
And here is the output:

Samba+CUPS+Drivers autodownload
Hi Matt,
the problem you referred to is discussed in detail
as bug #82 in Samba's bug tracking tool. It consists
of 2 bugs. One prevents the registration of drivers
and is due to a NULL-pointer passed from that part
of code in rpc_server/srv_spoolss_nt.c which calls
sys_adminlog function. It begins with the comment
/* BEGIN_ADMIN_LOG */
and ends with the comment
/* END_ADMIN_LOG */

rpcclient returns NT_STATUS_NO_SUCH_DEVICE on adddriver
Hi,
samba 2.2.8a freshly compiled
cups 1.1.19final-1 (debian)
while using cupsaddsmb, all runs well until adddriver, when rpcclient
returns a cryptic NT_STATUS_NO_SUCH_DEVICE. I've followed the
SambaPrintHowto 3.0 from 7.11.6.1 to 7.11.6.6, and it fails on the
latest as well.
Here is some more information.

I have all my adobe-drivers in /usr/share/cups/drivers/
and a directory in /etc/samba/drivers for the targetdrivers after i run
cupsaddsmb.
But when i run cupsaddsmb, directorys named Win40 and W32X86 in /etc/samba/drivers
is created. And the files from /usr/share/cups/drivers in the directorys.

rpcclient / adddriver returns WERR_ACCESS_DENIED
Hi,
I am trying to prepare downloadable printer drivers for Windows-Clients
with Samba 3.0.0-final. Everything worked fine so far. But I found no
way to add the printer driver files to the samba database. The method
using the Add Printer Wizard in W2k did not work for me.
This is what I tried:
linux4:/# rpcclient -U'root%secret' -c 'adddriver "Windows NT x86"

Samba 3 and cupsaddsmb
I can't even get cupsaddsmb to work right. I followed the configuration instructions from the documentation, and my smb.conf matches what the cupsaddsmb man page says.
I am getting extremely frustrated with this and not being able to allow clients to download drivers from Samba.
With cupsaddsmb, this is the error I am receiving when it gets to this point, over and over:

CUPS removal of cupsaddsmb
Hi All,
I was recently directed to look at some upstream CUPS changes which
impact Samba's printer server functionality: cupsaddsmb has been dropped
via
https://github.com/apple/cups/commit/f1def5b85f51120f5dc1eb21e1f38860ef41be9c
Given that it's only just gone in, I wouldn't expect it to reach distros
for some time, but I think it's worth discussing how/whether we should
react.

cupsaddsmb failure
When running the cupsaddsmb command, I get the following: Since I am
running as root, what do I not have access to and why?
Any help would be appreciated.

hi list,
We got the following problem:
We try to use samba 2.2.5 as a printserver for windoze clients
(samba 2.2.5 on RH linux 8 w/ CUPS 1.1.15).
CUPS works w/o any problems, but when we try to generate the drivers for
the windoze clients (by using cupsaddsmb), we get the following error:

cupsaddsmb claims to work but fails
Case strange... I've past probably 30 hours by now on this, crawling the web, and doing
attempts. I managed to make cupsaddsmb run without producing an error, but it fails. Ask
me for anything, full trace, versions and so on, but please, if someone has an idea, share
it.
