FW: Outlook .pst on a samba share; do or don't?
I'm running a new (6 months old) fast server, with an ultra-scsi RAID array . . . some of my workstations, however, are getting elderly: some are 5 year old 350Mhz machines, and my users are finding it faster to put their .pst files on their Samba-shared Linux home directories. (50 users, .pst files from 100mb to 1.5Gb). (yes, yes, I know, 1.5GB is WAY too big for a .pst file; its a constant

Letter instead of A4 with driver installed via Samba's Point'n'Print
Hello everyone, I have already asked for this the cups list/newsgroup, but it seems to me that this might be more a question about Samba. According (hopefully) to these howtos I have setup printers and prepared their cups postscript drivers to be installed automatically via Samba and the so called Point'n'Print method: https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-456501-highlight-.html

summary with names
Hi, how can I tell 'summary' to print the name of the summarised variable? This is probably an awkward newbie question but I didn't find an answer in the Docus, the FAQ and maillist archive. I want a summary for about 250 variables and realise it the following way (I know, that I shouldn't use iterations that way in R; but at the moment it's the easiest way for me):

Something similar to Doxygen for standard dialplan?
How are we all documenting complex dialplan? Is there something similar to Doxygen? I've got around 20 config files covering around 60 contexts and 40 variables. Of course, I've maintained a basic list of the major stuff, and documented the code throughout, but it's grown to the stage where it needs to be better documented, have a proper flowchart etc. Talking of flowcharts, I see

cli_pipe: return critical error. Error was Call returnedzero byte (EOF), hilfe!
Hi Kurt, I've read the new document. It's a very fine piece of technical documentation. However, it doesn't help me in the present predicament. Going now by this book I'm only getting more frustrated. I'm stuck! For example adding driver with rcpclient invariably ends in "Segmentation fault" (Signal 11) immediately after pop_sec_ctx, whose push counterpart was

Samba + Cups + Filter Access
Hi, I'm trying to use Cups + Samba to make a print server for many purpouses. The main one is to account how many pages where printed by whom and centralize all printers in one server. If I configure samba and cups in the RAW mode using windows original drivers of the printers, everything works fine, but this way I can't use cups accounting. So I reinstaled all my printers

Dial plan logic documentation?
Hi all, What methods (software or even on paper) would you folks use / recommend for the purposes of documenting how a dial plan is constructed? ie. what extensions jump to other extensions, etc? This is as a means of getting the "big picture" rather than having pages and pages of printed extensions.conf output... If you consider priorities as line numbers, extensions as

Samba-HOWTO-Collection Update
Folks, For those of you sending me your comments and suggestions for the above documentation update I'd like to pass on my sincere thanks. I am pleased with the number and quality of feedback so far. In answer to the question, "How much time has it taken to re-write this document?" - Lots! In answer to, "How can I help further?" ---------------------------------------

Hello, Would really appreciate any advise on how the security setting should be setup. I have running Samba ver 2.0.7 on HPUX10.20. Clients run Windows 200 PCs, WinNT4 PDC. "docusers" is the UNIX home directory for document users. their individual home dir is created under their user id. so, Paul 's home directory structure is : /docusers/paul Below is an extract from the

Something similar to Doxygen for standard dialplan?
Hi, thanks - that looks really good! I was about to embark on some non-visual stuff using Ragic, but this looks great. Is there a binary anywhere, or any instructions to compile? I've never compiled C# code before, and although a quick google suggests it shouldn't be too hard, I might need to know a few things like what version of .net it should be compiled with. The readme just points

Sankey Diagrams in R
Dear R-list, I am trying to visualize where the dropout happens in our patient flow. We are currently using traditional flowcharts and it bothers me that I can't visualize both the percentage and the flow in one diagram. The other day I came across some interesting diagrams doing exactly what I wanted, they had both flow and percentages visualized on one diagram. Here is some nice examples

New Printing Howto collection is soooo good!!! (I learn a lot from theory)
Hi, I must say that i admire very much the printing documentation written by one of your samba team. I wish every documentations is like this! -- It explains to a newbie like me what I need to know. It is amazing: i read it and in my head a few questions start to go round. I read 1 page more and the questions are answered. It is not good that the other documentation pages of the howto
