Migrating from 2.2.8a to 3.0.5 / Failed to setup RT_SIGNAL_LEASE handler
I'm running Slackware 9.0 with a vanilla Linux kernel 2.4.25. Due to the announced EOL for 2.2.x, I'm trying to migrate our Samba hosts to version 3.0.5. These Samba hosts serve shares mounted off a seperate NFS fileserver. All is going well, except I've started getting the following messages in the smbd logs: ---- Start of snippet ---- [2004/08/11 09:59:30, 0]

Problem with RH 9 and Samba version 2.2.7a-8.9.0
I'm upgrading to a RH 9 box and using the version of Samba that comes with RH 9. I notice this error message in the smbd.log file; [2003/11/21 21:15:19, 0] smbd/oplock_linux.c:linux_init_kernel_oplocks(287) Failed to setup RT_SIGNAL_LEASE handler It seems to effect the "domain admin group" parameter. In previous version of RH (7.3) and Samba (2.2.7-3.7.3), I'm able to

2.2.8a with kernel-2.4.22 has kernel oplock problems (NOT Failed to setup RT_SIGNAL_LEASE handler)
I have a samba problem on a redhat 9 box that appears to be clearly linked to a new kernel 2.4.22nptl when using "kernel oplocks = yes". I am trying to install a printer driver on a win98se box that tries loading the driver files from a share on the 2.2.8a server. The installation fails as win98se cannot read all the files as it would like to. I have two things I can do to avoid the

Ouch, access to shares is not granted anymore :( The client is confused and thinks the samba server is an domain controller!: Auf \\Deveis\public kann nicht zugegriffen werden. W2K Domain and Restricted Shares
Okay, we're doing a bit of system revamping at my work since our last file server crashed and burned in a horrible tragic failure (hard disk died). Anyways, we've stepped it up a notch with some nice hardware and the fileserver will be running linux (Redhat 9.0 currently). Anyways, I'm currently running into an issue. (I'm using samba 2.2.7a-8.9.0 for reference). Anyways,

Samba 3.0b3+CUPS+server drivers
I'm trying to setup a printer using Cups, using cupsaddsmb It uploads the files ok (smbclient ... -c 'mkdir W32X86;put ...;put ...') It adds the driver ok (rpcclient -c 'adddriver "Windows NT X86" "Canon:file1:file2..." (I have verified this worked from server properties in "printers and faxes" of the linux server: the driver "canon" shows

RT_SIGNAL_* issue - samba 3.0.9
This is part of the log and strace output from samba 3.0.9 running on kernel 2.4.27. The output from samba 3.0.8 on kernel 2.6.9 looked somewhat similar... I haven't seen much on the list or ancilliary documentation recently, other than "it is fixed for samba > 3.0"... Could someone please shed some light on this? Delay opening Word, Excel files
Hello, I am running samba 2.2.7a on Red Hat 9. The clients are running Win2k with SP3 and Office XP with SP2. The Samba server authenticates with a WinNT 4 domain controller. When the users open a Word or Excel document there is a 30sec delay before the file opens. From info gleaned from searches on this subject I have tried turning oplocks off altogether, which resulted in Word and Excel

SMB hogs cpu - printing freezes server
We have 2.2.7a running on redhat 9.0 with 256 MB ram. Dual cpus - but only PII 300's. Its not running as a PDC - the PDC is an nt box. The system is set up as our main print server with 60 odd print queues that service a wide variety of printers. Approx 200 odd windows pc's as clients. The print files themselves can be largish with multi-page docs with lots of graphics. What we are

RHEL6 implementation running slow
I am running Samba 3.6.15 on a RHEL6 server. The server has been joined to the campus AD. The complaint I am getting from users is that this is much slower than other, earlier versions of Samba. We have older versions running on both RHEL4 and RHEL5, but this version on RHEL6 seems to be running much slower. One thing to note is that I had first installed and had Samba 4 working. But,

upgraded samba server causes winXP integrated authentication to fail
Hi I've talked about this in other messages but have a feeling it might have got lost amongst the other symptoms we were discussing. I had a Redhat 9 server on which I'd installed Samba 3.5.6 (built from source). I had it authenticating successfully against a windows 2008 active directory server. I then upgraded the Redhat server to RHEL5.3, on which I installed Samba 3.5.7 (and

Printer download - NOT WORKING
Hi, I played around with samba 2.2.5 and cups and tried to get it working. Well everything is fine, but the driver upload to the client WILL NOT WORK. I used the current stable downloads, latest patch for printing, prebuilds from Lars Mueller .... I put together everything. If one has a working samba//cups please tar it and place it on our ftp-server. I don't know what's wrong here

I'm trying to get my HP Office Jet Pro L7680 All-in-one to reliably scan to one of my shared folders using the machine's digital filing capability. 98 times out of 100, when I try to scan, the AIO immediately reports "Cannot connect to \\192.168.254.4\public\scan. Transport End Point
I have four samba servers connecting into a samba PDC (using ldapsam as password backend) and all of the servers get the "transport end point not connected" error. I've looked in the groups but cannot find anything that helps. I've tried to set my oplocks=no and other similar settings but nothing seems to help. 3.0.10 works only when logged in locally to XP
I have struggled for a week trying to get domain users to map and/or browse Samba shares without entering a password. If I login to the domain with a WinXP client and try to map or browse a Samba share, I get prompted for user/pass. If I then login with a local machine account (same user/pass) it works. This same configuration also works just fine on W2K clients logged into the domain. I am
