Smbpasswd problem fine before but now ?
I set up a LM ( Linux Mandrake ) machine a 6 or 7 months ago with LM8.2 and samba 2.2.8a. I set up a 5 disk software raid 5 and made 5 accounts and 5 entries into smbpasswd using smbpasswd -an XXXXXX All went fine, nothing out of the usual happened and all users could hammer the raid remotely to see if it died. I have just resurrected the machine, which has been powered down for about 4 months

smbmount and smb_dont_catch_keepalive
Hi! I am experiencing strange smbmount problems with my 3 computers. I have: janeway, an NT 4.0 SP5 box, torres, a Linux box running kernel 2.0.36 and samba 2.0.5a, q, a Linux box running kernel 2.0.36. Both Linux machines have smbfs compiled as a module and loaded. I can smbmount janeway shares on both torres and q, and I can see torres shares on janeway. Naturally, q can't be seen by

smbmount doesn't preserve case?
I attempted to run the Linux install of Mathematica by smbmounting the CD-ROM from an NT box. I could see the CD just fine, but all the filenames were in uppercase. Linux/Unix doesn't like that. Is there a way to tell smbmount to preserve case? Looking at the man page it says that smbmount is a wattered down version of smbclient. I sure don't see how. smbclient doesn't mount the

SMBMount losing connections to NT server
Hi all, Just a thought - I'm running Samba on HP-UX 10.20,11.0, and MPE/iX, so no SMBMount for me. But Steve's idea that an update to files on the smbserver during a period of inactivity on the smbclient being involved led me to question if this could be an issue with the 'change notify' NT Transact mechanism; Some clients, when doing a treeconnect to an smbshare, will then

using smbmount for NT share
I posted a previous thread about using smbmount, but I am still having some problems, using samba version 2.0.5a on SuSE 6.2. I issue the statement: smbmount //NTServer/share /mnt/test -Iaddress -Uid%pswd Afterwards, if I go to the mount directory, i.e. 'cd /mnt' and issue the command 'ls -l' I get an error message 'ls: test: Input/output error'. After that, the mount

smbmount on NT machine times-out
I've got seven Linux boxes, and three NT boxes, all that have to be mounted via smbmount for a backup that we run through one of the Linux machines ("SPEEDY") via BRU. While Speedy has no problem keeping the mounts for all the Linux machines, the mounts for NT machines will timeout after a short period. I run a "df" and get an Input/Output error on all the NT machines. I

smbmount, NT and pagefile.sys woes
Hi, I've got a problem reading certain files from NT workstation 4 shares. The main problem seems to be pagefile.sys, but it sometimes happens with registry files as well. What happens is, that the 'pagefile.sys' NT swap files cannot be accessed. Any attempt at using ls on it or anything else fails. For example: # ls pagefile.sys /bin/ls: pagefile.sys: Text file busy The file is

Cups..works on LM8.1, LM8.2 but not LM9
I've been trying every combination possible to get CUPS on LM9 to print to a shared printer on a windows machine. On setting up the printer in printerdrake, On LM8.1 it worked first time. On LM8.2 with the same settings it worked first time. On LM9 it just sits there and laughs at me, with the same settings as LM8.1 and LM8.2. And how do i remove a default printer it thinks it has but

Problem with smbmount and Windows XP
My apologies if this has been brought up before. I've searched the archives of the mailing list and haven't seen a reference to this problem. I'm using 2.2.2-12 on Debian to smbmount a Windows XP share. It behaves kind of funky though. I can lis thte files. I can sometimes create files. I can sometimes edit files. But sometimes it will say "Permission denied". The really

smbmount cannot browse large NT directories
This is a problem I get with various versions of Samba, up to and including 2.0.7. (The version shipped with Debian.) I have an NT machine (4.0, service-pack 3 using NTFS) exporting a filesystem to Linux through smbmount. Specific directories are not browsable. By that I mean that "ls *" comes up blank, however if you know the filename, "ls foo.txt" will still find the

Patch: patches for smbmount opton documentation ( smbmount.8.xml )
Hi, I use samba on Linux 2.6 and 2G over size file sharing. It seems smbmount '-o lfs' need to use with large file. but default man page doesn't say this option. I want to edit smbmount.8.xml for lfs and unicode option. I believe using mount.cifs is right way on latest Linux. But one of the implementation smb_clients tools take this lazy option. Is it right way to change of man page

"smbmount" and Linux kernel-2.0.37
Hello, I tried to compile Samba-2.0.5b with smbmount after setting the configure-option "--with-smbmount". On systems (SuSE 5.0 and SuSE 5.3) running Linux kernel 2.0.35 and 2.0.37 I didn't have success: Compiling client/smbmount.c In file included from /usr/include/linux/smb_fs.h:11, from client/smbmount.c:28: /usr/include/linux/smb.h:47: warning: `PVAL'
