Is cvsweb broken?
I have been trying to access the samba cvsweb webpage all morning and keep getting an internal server error. I was curious as to whether anyone else was getting an error as well. Here is the entire text of the message that appears: Internal Server Error The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request. Please contact the server administrator,

Authenticating a W2K Workstation
I have a server running samba 2.2.0 downloaded from the cvs last thursday. The system is configured as a PDC per David Bannon's HowTo. I have a W2K workstation. I want to be able to authenticate users who are in the samba smbpasswd file but not set up as users on the W2K workstation. I can authenticate and log in as long as the user on the samba system is also a user on the

I have this old memory that the kernels used are a hodge podge of backports etc. So for a kernel-smp-2.6.9-55.0.9.EL should I use 0.4.10? Quoted from http://ivtvdriver.org/index.php/Download: The latest stable releases can be found here. Currently this is version 0.4.10 for kernels <= 2.6.15, version 0.6.7 for kernel 2.6.16, version 0.7.4 for kernel 2.6.17, version 0.10.6 for kernels >=

Load balancing Asterisk.
Hello! We're looking for a solution to reliably load balance our Asterisk boxes. So far we've been using a hodge-podge of directing different services to different boxes/IPs, but eventually I'd like to consolidate things so we can present a single IP address to the outside world. My question is - how do we go about doing that? I've read a lot of things like load-balancing via

I've been using R for several months now, in fact it was my intro to "real" computer programming. It used to frustrate me no end, but lately I've noticed my reaction has changed. Nowadays its much more like "wow, is that cool, or what?". So I guess I've gotten over the hump of the learning curve. Comparing what I now do with R to my previous hodge-podge of

2.0.4b - Bug in dfree > 2GB reporting for 16-bit clients
In 2.0.4b using a 16-bit client (in this case Lanman for DOS), disk space reporting for partitions greater than 2GB always reports 0 space free. I've tracked this down to the disk_norm routine in the smbd/dfree.c file. In the code for adjusting block size and disk size/free values for 16-bit reporting, WORDMAX was incorrectly being multiplied by 512 before being compared with bsize. This

2.0.2 servers with 1.9.18p10 DMB?
Have there been any problems reported with running 2.0.2 on servers using security=server with a 1.9.18p10 DMB? We've run into a situation where I've upgraded 4 of our servers to 2.0.2 but the DMB is still running 1.9.18p10. We have had sporatic trouble with the upgraded servers rejecting correct passwords because the DMB seemingly would not properly validate them. Today, we ran into a

check_oem_password: Incorrect password length
I'm currently investigating the appearance of this error message for a significant number of our users' password change attempts. It would seem from my research that this error occurs when the data coming from the SamOEMhash function is not of the expected format/value. I do not know if this would be due to incorrect data being sent into the SamOEMhash function from the client or something

password change problem
I posted my original question below to the samba-ntdom list but it seems to be the wrong place to be discussing this problem so I'm moving my follow-up to these lists. Background...I used to be using smbpasswd and the "unix password sync", "password chat", and "password program" settings to keep my smb passwords and unix passwords in sync. This was working well

Easy way to strip down CentOS?
Ok, I understand, now. I just leave multiple desktops in place and switch between them as I want. But perhaps you have reasons to do it as you do. That is one thing I really appreciate about Linux, the fact that there are many, many ways to accomplish almost everything and that what is right and works for me may not be what works best for you. Your scripting style is irrelevant so long as it
