Samba 3alpha20 Bugs (FreeBSD 4.6)
hello,
I would say that for Samba 3.0 alpha20 (and latter I suppose ) acting as PDC
you must reenable "use spnego=yes".
I say it because it is not clear, and I had to search a lot before finding
why i could not log on.
(it work with spnego=no with alpha17 !)
I've tried to set up add and delete scripts for everythings : add user
script, delete user script etc... add/del user and

[Fwd: samba 30alpha21 + NT4/2K WS-s]
Hi,
I have some strange problems with 3.0a21 PDC (samba and nss use both
ldap) and I can't find any good help with google...
One strange thing is that logon script does'nt work anymore, it worked
at one point and now doesnt (I quite play around here and I dont know in
which point of changing smb.conf it stopped to work).

3.0 alpha23 ldapsam/group mapping issue
I just moved from using samba 2.2.5 using ldapsam on a mac os x server
10.2.5 system to samba 3.0 alpha23. I have this samba server acting as a
PDC. I would like to enable group mappings but am having an issue.
This is the first group mapping error I get when a user first logs in:
ldap_connect_system: succesful connection to the LDAP server

domain groups in samba 2.2.3a debian woody
Hello, I'm using samba 2.2.3a in debian woody. I've set up the debian server as a PDC, and clients can join and log in fine. What I'm now looking for is how to set up groups for my users. When I try to set the security for a file in windows, I see the users on the linux server, but no groups. How do I map between unix group and samba groups? I've seen mention of the

smbgroupedit does not honor ldap parameters from smb.conf
Hello,
I've been using samba-3alpha22 as a PDC authenticating against LDAP. I
am trying to add NT Groups using the smbgroupedit utility.
It seems to me that smbgroupedit always looks in /etc/group and does not
take into account the ldap configuration options specified in smb.conf.
The relevant ldap entries are:
passdb backend = ldapsam:ldap://ebola/
ldap suffix="dc=datasoft,

/usr/sbin/swat.new
Aborted
when i run it from the command line.
nothing i can see in the logs...
The swat binary from a 2 week old head now

seems to work okay.
what's going on with swat - did i screw up the build?

domain admin group equiv. with 3.0?
I was previously using 2.2.8 and had 'domain admin group = @smbadmin' set
making anybody in the smbadmin group an administrator. However, with
samba-3.0 that went away. So, I set 'admin users = @smbadmin name1 name2...'
but it doesn't give my users administrative privilege. The logs seem to
indicate that the account has administrative privileges but they do not.

Head Domain Admins Group
Is there more documentation for smbgroupedit than the manpage ?
I'm trying to get the domain admins group to work. Steps i taken so far
1. create a unix group domadm
2. add my admin users to the domadm group
3. map the Domain Admins Group to the domadm group
4. make the domain admins group a domain group (smbgroupedit reported it as
unknown)
5. remove all domain users and groups from the

Joining WinXp to Samba PDC
After trying to get WinXP (Pro) to try and find my domain so I can log
on I've finally done it, but now when I try and join my WinXP client to
the domain, windows asks me to enter the username and password of an
account with permission to join the domain.
Now which account would this be?? root doesn't work, neither do my other
samba users.
Do I have to create another user or something?

Samba 3.0 + AD + OpenLDAP
Hi everyone!
I've already deployed samba-2.2.7a-2 and enabled openLDAP support. I
now have a machine configured as a domain controller authenticating all
windows users via openLDAP. openLDAP is also authenticating all of our
linux users.
I would like to install Exchange2000 on a windows2000 machine so our
windows users can do calendaring (sendmail already handles all of our
email needs).

LDAP Filter Problem
I was wondering if anyone could help me with this one. I am having trouble
getting LDAP and samba working properly on my Debian Woody box. I am using
OpenLDAP 2.0.27-3 and the unsable packaged Samba version 2.999+3.0 and am
using the samba.schema for my LDAP database.
Whenever I try to join the network using either W2K or smbclient the LDAP
debug log shows that the following filter is being

Fw: Samba 3.0-alpha 18 with ldapsam backend and primary gid of user?
Hi again,
I just wanted to add this to make my information more complete:
The id primary group id of user "eddie" in the ldap tree is 500:201.
201 is the group "Domain Users"
But you have to know that user "eddie" also excists with id and gid 500:500
in the /etc/passwd and /etc/group files.
Examining the log file below, this raises the following question to me:

Samba 2.2.7a and XP pro
I have read over the lists and search the web, I know this question has
been asked before, but I've not been able to fix my problem so I'll ask
here.
I have been successful in joining the XP machine to the domain however it
when I try to login to the domain windows instantly kicks up the message:
