W2K and XP Offline files stopped working with 2.2.3a
Hi -
It appears that Samba 2.2.3a broke Windows ability to use offline files from
a Samba share. This used to work fine under 2.2.2. When a user syncs an
offline folder, everything appears to work properly, but once disconnected,
only a small portion of the files are visible in the offline folder, and the
files are not accessible - they give strange error messages about files
being read-only or

Directory rename problem with smbclient
I am trying to use smbclient to migrate data from OS/2 LanServers to a
filesystem on an AIX 4.3.1 machine. Everything works great except renaming
directories on the OS/2 LanServer. I get the error ERRDOS - ERRbadfile
(File not found.) renaming files when I do a "rename <existing_dir_name>
<new_dir_name>" at the prompt, but <existing_dir_name> exists. I connected

Samba quota 'feature' fix?
Hey Guys and Gals,
I'm wondering if the quotas.c file is supposed to fix the problem where a
Linux x86 system running with the quota software causes corrupt files to be
written by Windows clients. I compiled it in and it didn't seem to make a
difference for the following problem.
In other words, if I enable quotas on my RH6.2 / 2.2.16-22 kernel box and
then write a file via Samba/Windows

smbclient and large file support
smbclient (and smbtar) in version 2.2.7a (and prior) has problems with
large files (> 4GB). The following patch (against 2.2.7a) fixes all
known problems with this. This code has been checked into the CVS tree
in all branches as well.

Setting Separate File server from Samba PDC
I'm aim to set up a file server that is separate from my SAMBA PDC. I've
had no problem setting file server up, and joining it to he domain using
smbpasswd.
Can I use winbind with a SAMBA PDC or is it meant only for Windows NT
servers.
When creating shares on this file server, I need to allow permissions to
various groups and or users. How can I do this. Do I need to set up NIS?

logon home with ldap under win98
Hello,
I hope this is the correct place for this mail... I have found that
samba-2.2.3a (--with-ldapsam) gives the correct logon home for win2k,
but not for win98. Obviously the two systems request the information in
a different way.
For win98 machines, in lanman.c, the information is taken only from
smb.conf, and not from ldap (or other backends).

Can I block dovecot from deleting read messages, after being fetched?
Hi all,
Is there an option to disable (server-side) the deletion of read mails
after fetching them via POP3, regardless of the MUA config?
Here are the issues I'm facing:
- my boss wants to force everyone into a server-side "no delete
message"-policy, for archiving, auditing and backup&recovery purposes
- the requisite here is pop3, so imap is out

SCO lan manager
We have a linux pc (slackware 4.0, samba 2.0.5) acting as a gateway between two
subnet of our office. On my side of the net I have a mixed win95/NT/Samba
network, and on the other side we have some sco unix servers, running an old
lan-manager, os/2 like.
Gateway linux is a master browser, that enable us to see the other subnet,
but... I can't see the record for the sco-server in

Samba causing problems with NT tools
Samba is causing a couple huge problems for the NT admins here since we
switched a bunch of machines to security=server and started running nmbd.
We're running Samba 2.0.2 and 2.0.3 on a mix of Solaris, HP-UX, and OSF1
machines.

Solaris 7 not compiling HEAD code
I am trying to compile the NTDOM HEAD code on Solaris 7 using gcc 2.8.
Samba 2.0.5a works fine but not the HEAD Code. See Errors below. Can
