Problems with ACLs in 2.2.8
Last weekend I upgraded from 2.2.7a to 2.2.8 because of the security
problems. Unfortunately 2.2.8 is not only security upgrade but also
contains some improvements one of which is backport of ACL code from 3.x
Since the upgrade I have problems with rights. In a directory with empty
ACL for the creator group and the same default ACL files created by samba
have rwx set while files created in shell

XP doesn't logoff from samba domain
PDC: Samba 2.2.8a on linux 2.4.20 + XFS + ACL, rather normal configuration.
Client: Win XP Pro
When user logon to Domain, I can see him (smbstatus, utmpx). But when he
logoff, the record is still there. It disappears when I reboot the XP.
According to M$ knowledge-base the problem is that samba doesn't handle
the logoff correctly.
Do you have any solution of this?

Win2k domain, ACLs and permissions
Hi there,
I have been trying to set up Samba 2.2.8 to connect to our Windows 2000
domain, and provide shares that support file permissions as a Win2K box
would, under Red Hat 8.0. To that end I recompiled the kernel (2.4.20)
with patches from acl.bestbits.org, enabling ext2 and ext3 EA and ACL
support. I set up winbind, joined the domain OK, and got name resolution
working pretty well. Everything

[LLVMdev] "Name that compiler"
lcs for language compiling system? It's a suggestive of the old name,
easy to remember, easy to say, and seems to be easy to google. Advanced
could be prepended to it to make it alcs to make it even more unique.

make errors, rsync 2.6.9 with acls patch
Hi. I'm attempting to compile rsync 2.6.9 with both the acls & xattr
patches on an MacBook pro (ie: Intel processor), with the latest
Apple Developer Tools. While this is OS X client, I've enabled acls
via "sudo /usr/bin/fsaclctl -p / -e" and rebooted, prior to
attempting to compile rsync. Is there something else inherent in OS X
Server perhaps, that I'm still

problem with mail_full_filesystem_access = yes
Hello,
I have configured Dovecot 1.2.12 with Postfix 2.6.5 and everything is working fine. But tomorrow I wanted to run IMAP
ALCs and from log I found that this plugin is conflicting with parameter mail_full_filesystem_access = yes in my config.
But when I set mail_full_filesystem_access = no it stops authorization for postfix with this message:

TDB file format???
Hi.
I want to use NT usernames / passwords from my PDC for loging in my
server. I also want to use NFS between various UNIX machines I have. The
problem is that I already have a database of username <-> UID maping (each
user that has an NT username got an unique UID when he got a username).
Now I want to translate this my UID database into winbindd UID tdb
database, however I don't know

Quota
Hi all,
I was wondering if there was a possibillity to put in a quota
to the smb.conf something like "max disk size = 1000" but then that
is actually does something at "1000"
If there is no option for this does anyone know the best way top do this
is, or do I have to make a "edquota".
problem I have is, I have a 4TB raid 5 crossplatform i.e. nfs,appletalk,smb,ftp

step.gam and number of tested smooth functions
Hi,
I'm working with step.gam in gam package. I'm interested both in spline and
lowess functions and when I define all the models that I'm interested in I get
something like that:

Samba 3.0.20 acls not working anymore and problem with winbindd_idmap.tdb
Hi Folks,
I am experiencing some problems with samba 3.0.20 which I can not solve
on my own. We have updated from samba 3.0.10 to samba 3.0.20, but I am
not sure when the problems started.
We had a problem with idmap - I had hoped to solve - before. Whenever
we rebooted the server, all of the ACLs got jumbled up. I thought that
our winbindd_idmap.tdb somehow got broken. I re-created it, but

wine problem - cannot write to directory
I just installed a new version of wine and wine stopped working.
It starts and I am getting a message that I have no permition to write on
my Win c:\ disk.
I checked that root is owner of c:\ directories, so I switched to root
user (even my userid is defined in the same group as root) and I am
gettin a message that root cannot run wine.
So I tried to "chmod 774 Agent" (Agent is directory

big file server
Hi
I plan to set up a big file server, something like motherboard with 4 ide
ports and an additional 4 ide daughter card, a PIV proc and 512 or 1024 MB
ram, a 100 or 1000 MB NIC, with 6 or 7 200 GB ide HDDs in a sigle box. I
don't need lightning performance, just disk space. Of course this would be
served by some linux os and samba
questions (relative to samba configuration and behaviour) :

displaying ntfs acls for a remote windows host
howdy all -
I am hoping to be able to manipulate the NTFS acls on a remote
windows host from a linux box. smbcacls, although fairly poorly
documented, seems as if it will do what i need from a modifying
standpoint. however, it doesn't look like it includes a switch to
display acls for a file. can someone point me towards a utility or
method of viewing acls on a remote host, if one
