no mapping between account names and security ids was done
I use a openLDAP database for authentication on my Redhat 7.2 server. The domain is "HOME". I have had no problem adding trust accounts and authenticating against it. Today I had to change the name of my Win2K workstation from poseiden to poseiden1 for compatibility with a package I am testing. Once I changed it and put in a new trust account, I could not rejoin the domain. I gave up and

net testjoin question
Hi: I had a problem joining a (red hat 8) machine (client) to our campus wide domain. Unfortunately I am in the dark as to many of the details of this network design here. So I am trying to back out some details. One machine had no problem joining the domain. Both are almost identically set up (compiled samba 3.0.2a). The other resisted a sucessful join until I added "-S" to the net

error in smbpasswd (now in english, sorry)
Hi list, We are mounting a PDC with samba+ldap. We are using samba2.2.5 and ldap from complanet.ath.cx/nexxus. All things go well, all tests are ok. Now we have to put our 4000 users in ldap and /etc/passwd, for this task we make an ldif file (for ldap) and two little scripts for linux passwd and samba smbpasswd set, see: script caduser: #!/bin/bash # # Adiciona usuarios for I in `<

SID when joining samba domain
I'm using a Debian woody based system (partially upgraded to 'testing' in order to use tls with ldap), with samba_2.2.7 source built by debian/rules with LDAP turned on, using gcc 3.0.4, libldap2-tls_2.0.23-14, and libldap2_2.0.23-14. I'm setting up PDC service -- when I try to join a windows machine (this is XP) to the domain, I get 'specified user does not exist' on the

samba-2.2.3a and openldap
dear list, I have some problems with samba-2.2.3a and openldap-support. Password changing with smbpasswd -a <username> is working properly. (Username is an existant user who can either be stored in a regularly /etc/passwd file or in another nsswitch-compatible service like ldap. In this case the username is an ldap user.) Password is changed automatically in the directory server. Pretty

smbpasswd complains about LDAP: "Object class violation"
I'm trying to get Samba on a Mac OS X box running as a PDC with an LDAP backend. I've read through all of the major walkthroughs I can find, and we've actually already got it running very nicely as a file server; people are currently authenticating against a different PDC and then mapping drives from the Samba box in question. However, I'd like it to be the PDC eventually, but

No UID associated with this user name
Hi sorry if this is the wrong place to post but I'm not sure where to go to and I'm a bit desperate. We just brought our Sunfire 6800 server and Storedge 9960 RAID array Solaris 8 back up after some maintenance and everything came back up 'clean' but I cannot get our SAMBA software to recognise any users or directories when logging in remotely from an apple or windows box.
