noise reduction capabilities
Hi,
I am considering to use Speex in a particular environment and I want to ask if
you thought it realistic.
I am going to use Wireless SIP (G.711) handsets in an environment that is
typcially noisey (background), connecting to an Asterisk PBX. I am considering
converting the G.711 to Speex so I can "massage" out the background noise. Is
this realistic?
Any input would be great.

invalid value 'netbios backup domain controller'
I have been having issues with my Centos 7 Samba4 setup. Not sure if it
is related to a recent samba package/version update, but things are no
longer very stable.
While looking at the logs, I see the following message on my BDC.
WARNING: Ignoring invalid value 'netbios backup domain controller' for
parameter 'server role'
This worked before and is consistent with the man page

Hosed by 4.2
Hi,
I have been using Centos since 3.0. I have been upgrading
regularly without any major problem.
4.1 to 4.2 has been a total disaster.
I ran yum update, it went through and a couple of hours later I
rebooted and X froze with the screen just being just fuzz
[regular rectangles, orange, green...] and the keyboard froze.
Could not do a alt-ctrl-backspace, nor a Alt-F1-6 nor Alt-Ctrl-Del.

https stream play 1 second and stop
Thanks for your response Michel. I encode with Omnia AX/E Software so that it can be processed a bit and it has built in MP3 Encoders. I believe it is happening to all my streams, but I only use the mp3 codec. Was encouraged to hear that I wasn’t the only one having an issue and look forward to some trouble shooting thoughts. I do not build my own packages so whatever OpenSSL version is in

Useful Info about Dell latitude E5510
Hi H. Peter Anvin,
I wanted to thank you for sharing information about PXE, I have used
this a lot and I wanted to share something that may be important for you
and your readers.
I have many different Dell model, they all worked well with PXE booting
however not for E5510. I noticed that using "LocalBoot -1 or 0" doesn't
work well. What I did use for Latitude E5510 (Bios A06)

rsync logging
Hello all,
I would like to know for each module i define in my rsyncd.conf (on my
backup server side) if it is possible to have the transfer logging (host,
ip address, ...) in my mysql server or in a separate log file for each
module.
I try to add log file = on each module, it was not working. I also try to
modify logging format with log format in my rsyncd.conf and nothing work !

@request cycle variables
I posted something about this yesterday, and got some good responses but
it seems that the variable @request[''controller''] isn''t being passed in
to the page or isn''t being read. Has the naming convention for these
variables changed. it worked great in all rails versions up to 0.9.5
with fcgi, but is not working in rails 0.10.0 with fcgi. I am currently

Writing activex controls and dlls in ruby.
Is it possible to write activex controls and windows DLLs in ruby? I
would like to have some of my logic be usable from VB (don''t ask why).
Thanks.

confession
Gang,
I've got to admit, what really sold me on debian was apt-get. And
I've been resisting getting up to speed with yum. So, can any of ya
point me to a good starter page, maybe one with migrators like me in
mind? Many thanks.

[RFC] Removing debug locations from ConstantSDNodes
Isn't this a typcial situation when the is_stmt field in the DWARF line table should be used?
If we set is_stmt=0 for the instruction loading the constant, then a debugger can choose not to stop on that instruction when doing "step" on source level. That way we can keep the original source location for a ConstantSDNode, but also telling the debugger that this isn't a recommended

anaconda in 3.3?
Greetings,
I'm using centos3 to study for rhce, centos came highly recommended
in Michael Jang's rhce study guide. I've been having trouble
isntalling via nfs, an early exercise in the book, and googling around
leads me to think it might be an anaconda bug. I tried following the
anaconda link on the "upgrading from 3.1" page but it's actually a
duplicate of the

https stream play 1 second and stop
I have the same issue occur on a windows server 2008 running 2.4.3 and recently upgraded to 2.4.4
I don’t know what open ssl was packaged with it. It seems to run fine for a week or two and then all of a sudden it starts this same issue of playing one second and then stopping. Restart the service and it works fine for another week or two. But only an issue on https, the http streams are fine.

Incoming Zap channels not behaving as expected. Rejecting call on channel....
I have been messing with Asterisk for months and got it working well
with a SIP connection, but this is the first time I have set it up with
TDM cards. The cards are configured, working and the T-1's (configured
for PRI/DCHAN) and I can even call into it if I add the DNIS as an
extension to default context. That is the oddity.
I can find nowhere in the documentation that says anything about

session variables
I was wondering, how you access the values of session variables. for
instance the variable "name" exists in the session dump under the object
user. I was trying something like this:
<%= @params[user.name] %>
<%= @sesssion[user.name] %>

Samba PDC reliability?
Hello all,
I'm using Samba 2.2.5 compiled on Solaris 8 for my PDC, I've included my
smb.conf below. My client machines are all winnt4.0 service pack 6, but I
can't get them to log in to the PDC reliably. Very rarely will they log in
properly, I usually get the "Domain controller could not be contacted" error
message. Does anyone have any advice? Thanks!
