Queue Control and Cups
I have also posted this to the CUPS general group, but thought that it was also a relevant post for this list. ------- I have samba-2.2.8a on RedHat 7.2. This has been a stable setup for quite some time, printing works as advertised. However, attempting to control the queues and print jobs is another story. As an aside, the Linux box is a domain member that does pass through authentication

Samba/CUPS printer queue troubleshooting guide (XP clients)?
We have a printing reliability problem with Samba printers/queues and we are trying to figure out how to troubleshoot it more methodically. Situation: We've been running Samba 3.x (always current/latest) for over a year with primarily Windows 2000 clients. This summer we are converting our 100 Win2K PCs to XP; this conversion is nearly complete. Our Samba printing is CUPS-based to HP

ok, so oplocks: good or bad?
I have been searching for info on this and haven't found an authoritative answer. From what I have read, oplocks are good because they increase connection speeds, but they are bad because they don't really work, but they actually do work, but they only work in some cases, etc etc. so, here's my problem and my question together: I get tons of these messages every day (over a thousand a

cups-1.3.7-32.el5_11.x86_64 may have a problem
Everyone, I have a problem I have been chasing for about three weeks and only occurred after cups was updated with cups-1.6.3-22.el7.??I would be interested as to whether any one else has had this problem, and would entertain suggestions as to how I can debug the problem. My Centos 5 server is a gateway as well as a cups print server that has been in place for 8 years and has continued to

Samba/CUPS Windows Print Queue Not Showing Up
I have installed Samba-3.0.22 with CUPS on my Solaris 10 box. It prints fine and shows up in my CUPS queue but active print jobs in my CUPS queue don't show up in my Windows Print Driver queue on my client! I've also tried not using CUPS and having it call lpstat but it still doesn't work! When I run CUPS' lpstat in command line it can see the jobs. What am I doing wrong?

printer status w2K / cups
Version info Samba 2.2.5 Cups 1.1.15 I have cups running and am printing out to the minolta 350 fine(network) from the w2k boxes. The (hopefully last) problem is on my windows boxes no print status comes back in the printer window. I do not see a list of print jobs anywhere or what the job status is. This is the first time I have really tried to get printing to work with samba. All my file

CentOS 7 CUPS: where queue defaults are stored?
Dear Experts, CentOS 7 outsmarted me (again...). Could someone tell me where cups print queues' default settings are stored? In the past I was doing rather trivial thing: I was setting up prototype machine (making kickstart file based on it), then I was configuring all printers on prototype machine. After which (with cups daemon stopped) I was just packing /etc/cups (and maybe

SOLVED: CentOS 7 CUPS: where queue defaults are stored?
Dear All, Please, ignore me. All settings are indeed in /etc/cups. Solution in my case was: calm down, go across the hallway and get yourself coffee, drink it and do something else for 5 min (maybe write "person in distress" e-mail...). And all will be what is expected after that. Still: is there more elegant way to replicate CUPS configuration, than just copy /etc/cups ? Thnaks.

samba print server client job queues.
Hello, I'm working on setting up a corporate print server with samba 3.2.0-2.17 on a Fedora 9 install. I've been able to get the services up and running and added several printers via the cups interface, also been able to upload the windows drivers. This all works well, printing also works well. The problem that I am running into is that the old print jobs seem to be getting stored

Samba print queues showing old jobs
We have a server running Centos-3 with all latest updates. The server hosts 3 printers for us which are accessed by various Windows clients. About 3 months ago we noticed that, after a cups update, if you looked at the print queues in Windows they would show old jobs that had long been printed. After a further cups update this quirk went away but it's just come backs again - possibly after

Print job files at /var/spool/samba get deleted before job is finished in cups
Dear list members, After a print job is submitted to Samba, from a windows client, the job file is created at /var/spool/samba, and immediately, it 'get's copied to /var/spool/cups, as it's expected, but, and here is the problem, it's also removed from /var/spool/samba although remaining in the to be processed queue in Cups. CUPS finally gets the job printed ok, but

Samba 4, CUPS, and one slow printer
I'm running CentOS 6.5, cups-1.4.2-50, and sernet-samba-4.1.4-7. I have five Ricoh copiers configured as printers using RAW queues in CUPS. Samba is configured as an Active Directory domain controller. I followed the "Samba as a print server" guide in the wiki. The [global] section contains load printers = yes. The [printers] section contains the following: path =

Re: [cups.general] Re: Windows Clients keep finished jobs in Queue
I'm also seeing this problem. We're running samba 3.0.7 with CUPS 1.1.20. The clients printing are WinXP Professional SP1. The jobs printed are still displayed in the Windows printer status window, even though it's been printed already and disappears from the CUPS printer queue list. AGI with queues status
Hello I'm trying to use an AGI that returns the queues status (numbers of available agents, etc ), but I'm having some problems with it (it's still very buggy). Is there any AGI repository with source code samples? Had anyone used an AGI to check queues and agents status? Windows XP printer status, samba and cups
Hi all, I am trying to get decent printer status without timeouts in windows xp (no sp1 installed). When I installed the printer it gave access denied, unable to connect but it printed the test page fine. I rebooted, logged in as normal user and tried to access the printer configuration folder. It took a long while but in the end it gave an ok status on the particular printer, when opening the
