OpenSSH + PADL pam_ldap.so + password aging
First, my config:
Solaris 8
PADL pam_ldap v165 and pam_nss v211
OpenSSH 3.7.1.p2
All compiled with gcc 2.95.3 that ships with the Sun companion CD
LDAP PAM authentication is working well with OpenSSH, privsep is disabled,
challenge-response authentication is enabled. I would like to turn on
password aging, which seems to be well supported by pam_ldap. Logins going
through /bin/login correctly

Microsoft Certified Professional Magazine publishes Samba art icle.
I got mcp mag a day or two ago, Great writeup!!
I was a little surprised that they ran such a glowing review of samba,
with some of the negative implications on NT. It is very nice to see
Microsoft show an interest in interoperability.

I have upgraded recently from alpha22 to rc1. While trying to access printer
properties from XP, i'm getting error "Runtime Error! program:
C:\WINDOWS\explorer.exe abnormal program termintation". Printing is not
possible as well. This error is reproducable from any WinXP computer on
network on any shared by samba printer. Printers are HPLJ2100, drivers are
latest PCL6 downloaded

locking in samba
Hello! I've got into problems with simultaneous access to files on samba
server. Two (or more) people from different computers may open the same file
and may independently change it (with openoffice, for example). Certainly,
this is not the expected behavior. If the file is shared on windows machine,
when the first user opens it, he gots RW permission, while the next one(s)
may open this

Help with "Updating Gem Source Index"
After hearing so much about RoR over the last few months, I finally
decided to give it a try. I decided to follow the "Rolling with Ruby on
Rails" article on ONLamp.com to get up and running.
Unfortunately, since that fateful decision, I have run into nothing but
obstacles.
First, I downloaded and installed Ruby. That was my last success event.
Then, I typed "gem install

smbgroupedit does not honor ldap parameters from smb.conf
Hello,
I've been using samba-3alpha22 as a PDC authenticating against LDAP. I
am trying to add NT Groups using the smbgroupedit utility.
It seems to me that smbgroupedit always looks in /etc/group and does not
take into account the ldap configuration options specified in smb.conf.
The relevant ldap entries are:
passdb backend = ldapsam:ldap://ebola/
ldap suffix="dc=datasoft,

Upgrading 3.0alpha -> 3.0.0.rc2, error C000019b for old users only
I am having trouble upgrading my installation of Samba. My setup is:
- Debian Woody x86
- Samba 3.0.0rc2 (upgrading from alpha22)
- Samba acting as a PDC
- Samba accounts and Posix accounts in an LDAP directory (OpenLDAP from
Debian)
I have successfully compiled and installed the new version. I have
extracted all users from the LDAP tree and converted them to the new
schema using the perl

Printing, cups, w2k, Runtime error
Hi!
I've been trying to find a solution to a printer problem. All I found is a
message posted to this list about a year ago, which describes about the same
problem (the message is in the end of this mail).
So, each time I try to print from windows 2000 or XP I get this error
message:
Microsoft Visuall C++ Runtime Llibrary
Program: C:...Winword.exe
Abnormal program termination
I have three
