Vedr.: Re: Migration from WindowsNT to Samba
I was thinking of using rsync, since it has the ability of mapping the written user-name instead of using UID's. Anyone know how this work on WindowsNT? I've read, that CygWin hasn't the ACL's properly implemented yet? Does another "cross-platform" exist, that can map between the written usernames? Jacob ps. I've tried using scopy, but it fails : "Acces

samba 3.5.6 as PDC & LDAP - roaming profile problem
Hi all; for few weeks I'm trying to implement a new samba PDC server for my school. It is based on debian squeeze and samba 3.5.6 with lDAP backend. I was able to join a computer into domain, LDAP is working, mapping home drive for users also. It seems that almost all works good but with one exeption. The one thing which is broken is roaming profile support. When user is logging into domain

WindowsNT Explorer Copy Removes x Attribute from Unix Source File s
We ran across a strange problem that I'm hoping someone may have already solved. When we use Windows Explorer to copy a file from a Unix directory to a Windows directory or another Unix directory, some of the source files have their user execute bits removed. I haven't been able to see a pattern as to which source files are changed, and it doesn't always seem to be consistent. It

First use of cd ~user fails on systems using winbind
Hi. I'm running the latest Samba 4.18 on our dc (Linux - Rocky 8.8), and the clients are running the latest 4.17 (Linux - Rocky 8.8) to be upgraded to 4.18 soon. I've noticed an issue for awhile that is really quite strange and wonder if anyone has any thoughts on this. Samba/Kerberos auth has been setup and working for quite a long time, and I don't think the configuration of

Counterpart for Matlab's 'feval'?
Hi! I've just begun writing a program that searches for the minimum of a function with golden section search. In order to do this in a nice way I need a function that takes a function name and an argument and returns the function value for that argument, i .e just like Matlab's 'feval'. Is there any? Thanks before hand! Best regards, Fredrik Thuring, Codan Insurance A/S

I've tried reading them to R with the function 'read.xport' but this returns the error message 'Error in lookup.xport(file) : unable to open file'. Are there any other functions that one

Handling of tables in R
Hi! I have a few questions concerning reading of tables from R to other programs. My main question is if it’s even possible to read a table created in R (with the functions data.frame and save) to Excel (or maybe SAS) and if so how does one do this? If I just mark the table in R and copy-paste to Excel the whole table ends up in one single cell, (of course). My goal is to
