help needed - Officejet 7110 printing problem under RH7.2
Hello,
I have RH 7.2 and was trying to make HP Officejet 7110 work with it.
I have upgraded ghostscipt to 7.0.6 installed hpijs1.3.1 and foomatic-2.0.
So in printconf-gui I was able to chose HP OfficeJet 7110 from the printers
list and install hpijs driver.
After sending page to print, printer is displaying message (printing) after
printing page and diode On is blinking.

nmbd dies at random
Hi
I have a small network with a samba server running on Debian Woody (3.0)
and 11 workstations running Windows 2000 (dual-boot with RedHat 8). For
about a year I've had problems with samba (nmbd) dying at
random times making it impossible for users to log on. On average it
happens once a week, but with great variations (down to 30 minutes).
I've never been able to find anything in the

Two nmbd processes on 2.2.6
Hello,
I have downloaded and compiled 2.2.6 to replace my 2.2.6pre.
I spent a large part of the day debugging the startup script because it
seemed to always be starting two nmbd processes instead of one.
Eventually I tried running just /usr/local/samba/bin/nmbd - and still got
two nmbd processes. Is this correct behaviour?
On the first server (Dell 4600) I thought it might be because it has

nmbd dying
nmbd has been dying on me occasionally. I'm running mandrake 9.2 with
samba3-server-3.0.0-2mdk. We've got our users in ldap but I'd seen this
symptom previously when I was using an earlier version of samba that didn't
support ldap. There is nothing useful in the logs and a PS shows a nmb
process still running.
This last time around, I had a ptrace running on both nmbd

nmbd memory leak in 2.2.x CVS
I am running 2.2.6 on a customer's site and everything has been perfect.
However I noticed the other day that one of the two nmbd processes (it is a
wins server) had grown to 13Mb over a two week period.
I needed to update to the latest CVS version anyway and had hoped that
something in that might fix things. Five days later and things are looking
the same:
nmbd started on Nov 9th:

SVM question
I'm running SVM from e1071 package on a data with ~150 columns (variables)
and 50000 lines of data (it takes a bit of time) for radial kernel for
different gamma and cost values.
I get a very large models with at least
30000 vectors and the prediction I get is not the best one. What does it
mean and what could I do to ameliorate my model ?

Samba and nmbd
I am new to this so bear with me.
I'm running Redhat 7.3
I downloaded Samba 2.2.7a-1 yesterday and installed it. After installing
it I did the /etc/rc.d/init.d/smb stop and start but only the smbd
showed up. Where is the nmbd and how do I get it to stop/start with smbd
like the examples show?
I can ping both machines both ways. net view \\RH7 doesn't work nor does

pam_start() failed: system error
Hi,
I'm using dovecot 1.1.3 on FreeBSD 6.3, x86, files are on NFS,
except control and index files, which are local, on UFS2. It's
moderately loaded, there are usually not more than 30 clients
simultaneously.
dovecot runs fine for 3-10 days, then people can't connect any
more, and dovecot says:

nmbd dies as soon as it's started
As soon as I start up the daemons using the following commands, nmbd dies.
/usr/local/samba/bin/smbd -D
/usr/local/samba/bin/nmbd -D
When I view the nmbd.log it gives the following. We're trying to set up
Samba to work over 2 subnets. Smbd is ok and we can still mount our
shares. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks for any help.

Internal Error in nmbd
We're running samba 2.0.7 on an alphalinux machine (kernel 2.2.16, this is redhat-alpha 6.0, if that's important) and
nmbd is crashing with an internal error. See the logs below (log.nmb at the bottom). I'd do some checking around on the
samba mailing list archives, but they've been down for some time now. nmbd generates this message on startup. When I ran it

nmbd dies every day
Hi there, i have 2 samba servers (1 with ver 3.0.0-15 - will do an
update soon - other with 3.0.2-7.FC1) both installed on Fedora 1.B and
my problem is that for some reason one of them (3.0.0-15 to be exact)
stops every day a few hours after everybody goes home. I had the same
version on the other server and that never happened. Please any ideas
why this happens?

nmbd dead but pid file exists
On a CentOS 5.1 server samba works perfectly as long as connections exist. If
no connections exist nmbd shuts down:
service smb status
smbd (pid 2970 2934) is running...
nmbd dead but pid file exists
On this last occasion it had been less than 5 minutes between connections.
What could be causing this?
